Combined modality treatment using radiation and/or chemotherapy in an athymic nude mouse-human medulloblastoma and glioblastoma xenograft model.
The nude mouse-human tumor xenograft model was found to be useful for combined modality studies and should give valuable information for the experimental design of pilot Phase III clinical studies against a variety of brain tumors.

Ten days after total-body irradiation with 550 rads of b0Co, spleen colonies were observed in adult C57BL mice and data indicated a resting population close to the S-phase, which showed that CFUs were stimulated by C. parvum administration and entered theS-phase shortly after stimulation.

The LD50/30 of female and male C57BL mice was used as an end-point to estimate the r.a.b.e. of 10 MeV X-rays at a dose-rate of 35 rads/min, and that of 60Co gamma-ray at 6 rads /min were found to be 1·00 ± 0·03 and 0·72± 0·4 respectively.
Scheduling of hypoxic-tumor therapy using neutron brachytherapy.
Findings indicate that traditional concepts developed for the use of conventional low-LET therapy may need to be altered to use neutrons for therapy and to achieve improved local control of advanced cancers.

The EMT6 tumour of the Balb/c mouse and the LSA ascites lymphoma of the C57BL/YM mouse have been used to study the effects of Cf-252 neutrons at low dose rates and values for both systems were entirely dependent on comparison with Cs-137 survival curves.
