Nitrilases from Aspergillus niger CBS 513.88, A. niger K10, Gibberella moniliformis, Neurospora crassa OR74A, and Penicillium marneffei ATCC 18224 were expressed in Escherichia coli BL21-Gold (DE3)…
Multilocus sequence typing of Neisseria meningitidis directly from cerebrospinal fluid
- P. Kriz, J. Kalmusová, J. Felsberg
- Medicine, BiologyEpidemiology and Infection
- 1 April 2002
MLST typing of Neisseria meningitidis directly from clinical material was introduced in the National Reference Laboratory for Meningococcal Infections in Prague and revealed that the strains causing the two group C infections were of sequence type (ST) 11, while the two groups B infections were characterized as ST-32 and ST-33 respectively.
CobB1 deacetylase activity in Streptomyces coelicolor.
- K. Mikulík, J. Felsberg, V. Zídek
- Biology, ChemistryBiochemistry and cell biology = Biochimie et…
- 2 February 2012
First evidence for deacetylation activity of CobB1 in Streptomyces coelicolor is provided, indicating that CobB 1 is involved in regulating the acetylation level of acsA and consequently its activity.
Mutations in two distinct regions of acetolactate synthase regulatory subunit from Streptomyces cinnamonensis result in the lack of sensitivity to end-product inhibition.
- J. Kopecký, J. Janata, S. Pospíšil, J. Felsberg, J. Spížek
- BiologyBiochemical and Biophysical Research…
- 9 December 1999
Changes in the sequence of ilvN conferring the insensitivity to valine in mutant strains were found in two distinct regions and point mutations resulting in the same phenotype shortened the protein at V(104) or V(107).

Changes in conformation, stability and condensation of DNA by univalent and divalent cations in methanol-water mixtures.
- H. Votavova, D. Kučerová, J. Felsberg, J. Šponar
- Chemistry, BiologyJournal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics

DNA destacking appears to be a direct consequence of stronger cation binding by the condensed DNA in methanol-water mixtures, and is probably similar to the P form.
Genome mining for the discovery of new nitrilases in filamentous fungi
- O. Kaplan, K. Bezouška, L. Martínková
- Biology, ChemistryBiotechnology Letters
- 1 February 2011
Synthetic genes encoding nitrilases in Aspergillus niger, Gibberella moniliformis and Neurospora crassa were expressed in Escherichia coli, the first heterologous expression of fungal enzymes of this type.
SsrA genes of streptomycetes and association of proteins to the tmRNA during development and cellular differentiation
- K. Mikulík, P. Palečková, J. Felsberg, J. Bobek, J. Žídková, P. Halada
- BiologyProteomics
- 1 April 2008
The data show that the protein SS1 that structurally differs from S1 of Escherichia coli is required for translation of the tmRNA tag‐reading frame.
HlyA knock out yields a safer Escherichia coli A0 34/86 variant with unaffected colonization capacity in piglets.
- V. Sheshko, Jana Hejnova, P. Šebo
- BiologyFEMS Immunology & Medical Microbiology
- 1 November 2006
The results show that a single dose of the A0 34/86 wild-type or Delta hlyA strains resulted in efficient intestinal colonization of newborn conventional piglets, and that this was still considerable after several weeks.
6S RNA modulates growth and antibiotic production in Streptomyces coelicolor
- K. Mikulík, J. Bobek, J. Žídková, J. Felsberg
- BiologyApplied Microbiology and Biotechnology
- 24 May 2014
It is concluded that 6S RNA contributes to the optimization of cellular adaptation and is an important factor involved in the regulation of growth and expression of key genes for the biosynthesis of actinorhodin.
