Parasitoid-induced mortality of Araneus omnicolor (Araneae, Araneidae) by Hymenoepimecis sp. (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) in southeastern Brazil
The highest incidence of parasitism was observed among relatively small females while no egg or larva was found in large individuals, and the wasp ovipositing behavior was very similar to that of Hymenoepimecis argyraphaga parasitizing Leucauge argyra. Expand
Modification of Nephila clavipes (Araneae Nephilidae) webs induced by the parasitoids Hymenoepimecis bicolor and H. robertsae (Hymenoptera Ichneumonidae)
A possible spider defence (molting) against polysphinctine parasitisation is documented, and it is shown that the alterations induced by H. bicolor make the webs more resistant to destruction. Expand
Two new species of Hymenoepimecis (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Pimplinae) with notes on their spider hosts and behaviour manipulation
Two new species of Hymenoepimecis are described and information on their hosts, spiders of the genera Leucauge (Tetragnathidae) and Manogea (Araneidae). Expand
Behavioral manipulation of the orb‐weaver spider Argiope argentata (Araneae: Araneidae) by Acrotaphus chedelae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae)
The discovery of the ability to induce changes in host's web‐building behavior in Acrotaphus is indicative that this trait may be primitively present in the clade that includes the genus Hymenoepimecis. Expand
An alternative host of Hymenoepimecis japi (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) on a novel family (Araneae, Araneidae), with notes on behavioral manipulations
It is found that H. japi alters the web construction behavior of M. biggiba, resulting in a complex three-dimensional cocoon web that differs from that of L. roseosignata, which is a simpler structure composed of a few support threads. Expand
First record of egg sac predation of the wasp "Tromatobia" sp. Foster, 1869 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) upon "Araneus omnicolor" (Keyserling, 1893) (Araneae: Araneidae)
This work record the first interaction between the parasitoid wasp Tromatobia sp. (Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) and its host Araneus omnicolor (Araneae: Araneidae), which was observed in the Serra doExpand
Two new species of Zatypota (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) sharing the same host spider in Northeast Brazil.
Two parasitoid wasps of the genus Zatypota are described and illustrated, both koinobiont ectoparasitoids of the spider Anelosimus baeza (Theridiidae) and both show the same development time, which was longer when compared with other parasitoids wasps. Expand
Parasitism of Hymenoepimecis manauara Pádua & Oliveira (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Pimplinae) on Leucauge henryi Mello-Leitão (Araneae: Tetragnathidae) in Brazilian Amazonian
First record of Hymenoepimecis manauara parasitizing Leucauge henryi with description of cocoon and comments about this interaction are added. Expand
Hymenoepimecis neotropica (Brues & Richardson) (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) parasitoid of Araneus omnicolor (Keyserling) (Araneae, Araneidae): first host record and new occurrence to Brazil
This work expands the geographical distribution of the genus Hymenoepimecis to Brazil and records the spider Araneus omnicolor (Araneae, Araneidae) as its host and provides information about the natural history of this interaction. Expand
