The results suggest that transportation is stressful for dogs and that sedation with acepromazine, at the dosage and timing used, does not affect the physiological and behavioral stress responses of dogs to air transport.
Stability of shredded Mozzarella cheese under modified atmospheres
- S. C. Eliot, J. Vuillemard, J. Emond
- Chemistry
- 20 July 2006
Stability of Mozzarella cheese was studied under 8 modified atmospheres (air, vacuum and mixtures carbon dioxide/nitrogen) during 8 wk. Samples, packaged in barrier bags and stored at 10°C, were…

Results from these studies showed that shelf-life prediction should not be based on a single quality factor as, depending on the temperature history, the quality attribute that limits shelf life may vary and methods to use air temperature to predict product temperature for highest shelf- life prediction accuracy in the absence of individual sensors for each monitored product have been developed.
Regulation of Ethylene Biosynthesis in Broccoli Flower Buds in Controlled Atmospheres
- J. Makhlouf, C. Willemot, J. Arul, F. Castaigne, J. Emond
- ChemistryJournal of the American Society for Horticultural…
- 1 November 1989
The effect of controlled atmospheres on the regulation of ethylene biosynthesis during the senescence of broccoli flower buds (Brassica oleracea, L. Italica group cv. Green Valiant) was assessed.…
CHLORINATED WATER TREATMENTS AFFECTS POSTHARVEST QUALITY OF GREEN BELL PEPPERS
Green bell peppers (cv. Bell boy) were dipped in 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 μg/mL chlorine solutions for 20, 30 and 45 min to study the effect of chlorine on pepper quality characteristics. Chlorinated…
Radio Frequency Interactions with Air Cargo Container Materials for Real-Time Cold Chain Monitoring
- Magalie Laniel, Ismail Uysal, J. Emond
- Business

Transportation is an important part of the supply chain as goods are being transported over thousands of kilometers from their production sites to consumers thanks to increasing globalization. Many…
Relationship between weight loss and visual quality of fruits and vegetables
A maximum acceptable weight loss before each selected fruit and vegetable became unacceptable for sale is suggested because loss of water from harvested fruits and vegetables is a major cause of postharvest deterioration.
Quality attributes limiting papaya postharvest life at chilling and non-chilling temperatures
- É. Proulx, M. Cecilia, N. Nunes, J. Emond, J. Brecht
- Chemistry
- 1 December 2005
Papayas were harvested in April and May, at color break ripeness stage and held at constant temperatures of 0, 5, 10, 15 or 20 ordm;C in order to determine the quality attributes that limit…
QUALITY OF STRAWBERRIES AS AFFECTED BY TEMPERATURE ABUSE DURING GROUND, IN-FLIGHT AND RETAIL HANDLING OPERATIONS
Intact, bruised, and bruised + inoculated (Botrytis cinerea) strawberries (cv. Sweet Charlie) were stored under two temperature regimes (semi-constant and fluctuating) simulating conditions…
