Inhibition of glucocorticoid receptor binding by nitric oxide in endotoxemic rats*
The results indicate that the failure of glucocorticoids to exhibit their antiinflammatory effects when administered to endotoxemic rats may be explained, at least in part, by the nitric oxide-induced inhibition of glucOCorticoid receptor binding ability, thus precluding the expression of the anti inflammatory effects of both exogenous and endogenous corticosteroids. Anandamide reverses depressive-like behavior, neurochemical abnormalities and oxidative-stress parameters in streptozotocin-diabetic rats: Role of CB1 receptors
The data suggest that in depression associated with diabetes, the endocannabinoid anandamide has a potential to induce neuroadaptative changes able to improve the depressive-like response by its action as a CB1 receptor agonist. Expand
Dual function peptides from pepsin hydrolysates of whey protein isolate
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pepsin hydrolysates of whey protein isolate (WPI) on vascular relaxation and emulsifying capacity. WPI was subjected to pepsinExpand
Involvement of the nitric oxide/soluble guanylate cyclase pathway in the anti‐oedematogenic action of Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng) Pedersen in mice
The results indicated that stimulation of endogenous production of nitric oxide, followed by soluble guanylate cyclase activation, was implicated in the anti‐oedematogenic action of HEPG. Expand
Enzyme inactivation and drying technologies influencing the vasorelaxant activity of a whey protein hydrolysate in semi-pilot scale
Abstract A vasorelaxant whey hydrolysate at semi-pilot scale was generated, assessing the influence between two different enzyme inactivation conditions (pH and temperature) and drying technologiesExpand
Sesquiterpene lactones from Hedyosmum brasiliense induce in vitro relaxation of rat aorta and corpus cavernosum
Hedyosmum brasiliense Miq., Chloranthaceae, has been used in Southern Brazil as a sedative, anti-inflammatory, and aphrodisiac. In this study, endothelium-intact and endothelium-denuded rat aorticExpand
Differential changes in vasopressin-induced vasoconstriction in renal vascular bed and aorta from endotoxemic rats (849.5)
Hyporesponsiveness to vasoconstrictors is a well-known characteristic of septic shock. We hypothesized that the degree of vascular hyporesponsiveness may vary among different vascular systems. BothExpand
