Biologic and clinical significance of cryoglobulins. A report of 86 cases.
- J. Brouet, J. Clauvel, F. Danon, M. Klein, M. Seligmann
- MedicineThe American journal of medicine
- 1 November 1974
In this series, immunoproliferative and autoimmune disorders were the most frequent diseases associated with cryoglobulinemia and no treatment was definitively effective in patients with chronic symptoms such as vascular purpura.
High-dose therapy and autologous blood stem-cell transplantation compared with conventional treatment in myeloma patients aged 55 to 65 years: long-term results of a randomized control trial from the…

This randomized trial confirmed a benefit ofHDT in terms of EFS and TwiSTT but did not provide evidence for superiority of HDT over CCT in OS of patients aged 55 to 65 years with symptomatic newly diagnosed MM.
Role of interleukin 10 in the B lymphocyte hyperactivity and autoantibody production of human systemic lupus erythematosus
The results indicate that the Ig production by SLE B lymphocytes is largely IL-10 dependent, and that the increased production ofIL-10 by Sle B lymphocyte and monocytes may represent a critical mechanism in the emergence of the autoimmune manifestations of the disease.
High-dose therapy and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation in multiple myeloma: up-front or rescue treatment? Results of a multicenter sequential randomized clinical trial.
HDR with PBSC transplantation obtained a median OS exceeding 5 years in young patients with symptomatic MM, whether performed early, as first-line therapy, or late, as rescue treatment, suggesting early HDT may be preferred because it is associated with a shorter period of chemotherapy.
Late-onset combined immune deficiency: a subset of common variable immunodeficiency with severe T cell defect.

Identification of systematic T cell phenotype should result in a more fitted diagnostic and therapeutic approach of infections and could provide insights for genetic diagnosis.
Prognostic value of vertebral lesions detected by magnetic resonance imaging in patients with stage I multiple myeloma
We assessed the role of spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and bone densitometry as prognostic factors in patients with asymptomatic stage I multiple myeloma (MM) and negative skeletal survey.…
Interleukin-10 prevents spontaneous death of germinal center B cells by induction of the bcl-2 protein.
It is shown that IL-10 enhances in vitro the viability of purified splenic B cells and affects bcl-2 expression, which may play a crucial role in relieving from apoptosis those B cells that encounter their antigen in B cell follicles.
The BCMA gene, preferentially expressed during B lymphoid maturation, is bidirectionally transcribed.

- 11 April 1994
It is shown that the BCMA gene is organized into three exons and its major initiation transcription site is located 69 nucleotides downstream of a TATA box, suggesting a role for this gene in the B-cell developmental process.
A new gene, BCM, on chromosome 16 is fused to the interleukin 2 gene by a t(4;16)(q26;p13) translocation in a malignant T cell lymphoma.
The data indicate that BCM is a new gene whose expression coincides with B cell terminal maturation, and the novel gene was termed BCM for B cell maturation.
Phase II trial of arsenic trioxide and alpha interferon in patients with relapsed/refractory adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
- O. Hermine, H. Dombret, +11 authors A. Bazarbachi
- MedicineThe hematology journal : the official journal of…
Arsenic trioxide/IFN treatment is feasible and exhibits an anti-leukemia effect in very poor prognosis ATL patients despite a significant toxicity.
