Should meta-analyses of interventions include observational studies in addition to randomized controlled trials? A critical examination of underlying principles.
TLDR
The authors found that the advantages of including both observational studies and randomized studies in a meta-analysis could outweigh the disadvantages in many situations and that observational studies should not be excluded a priori.
Association of selective and conventional nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs with acute renal failure: A population-based, nested case-control analysis.
TLDR
There was a significant association for both selective and nonselective NSAIDs with acute renal failure, but confirmatory studies are required.
Drug–drug interactions between antithrombotic medications and the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding
TLDR
Drug combinations involving antiplatelets and anticoagulants are associated with a high risk of gastrointestinal bleeding beyond that associated with each drug used alone, and Physicians should be aware of these risks to better assess their patients' therapeutic risk–benefit profiles.
Probiotic therapy for the prevention and treatment of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea: a systematic review
TLDR
A systematic review of randomized controlled trials for the effectiveness of probiotic therapy found insufficient evidence for the routine clinical use of probiotics to prevent or treat CDAD.

TLDR
A local in-hospital HTA unit was created to provide sound evidence on technology acquisition issues, and to formulate locally appropriate policy recommendations, which have had a major impact on the adoption of new technology.
Risk of acute myocardial infarction with NSAIDs in real world use: bayesian meta-analysis of individual patient data
TLDR
All NSAIDs, including naproxen, were found to be associated with an increased risk of acute myocardial infarction.
Impact of care at a multidisciplinary congestive heart failure clinic: a randomized trial
TLDR
Care at a multidisciplinary specialized outpatient congestive heart failure outpatient clinic reduced the number of hospital readmissions and hospital days and improved quality of life, when integrated with those from other, similar trials.
Testing for HER2-positive breast cancer: a systematic review and cost-effectiveness analysis
TLDR
The strategy of screening all newly diagnosed cases of breast cancer with immunohistochemistry and confirming scores of 2+ or 3+ with fluorescence in situ hybridization testing was associated with a median incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of $8401 per case of accurately determined HER2 status.
