Threonine 68 phosphorylation by ataxia telangiectasia mutated is required for efficient activation of Chk2 in response to ionizing radiation.
It is shown that the ATM protein kinase directly phosphorylates T68 within the SQ/TQ-rich domain of Chk2 in vitro and that T68 is phosphorylated in vivo in response to IR in an ATM-dependent manner.

This work has implicated an important role for PA28 in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I‐restricted antigen processing pathway and an immunomodulatory cytokine γ‐interferon (γ‐IFN) was found to increase greatly the messages forPA28α and PA28β, but not Ki antigen, in human cells.
p53-dependent transcriptional repression of p21(waf1) by hepatitis C virus NS3.
It is demonstrated that NS3 protein could specifically repress the promoter activity of p21 in a dose-dependent manner and the growth rate of NS3-expressing cell lines was at least twice as fast as that of the parent NIH 3T3 cells, indicating that the repression of p 21 is actually reflected by the stimulation of cell growth.

The transfection efficiency of BMEC by the calcium phosphate method was greatly improved by post-transfection osmotic shock with glycerol or polyethylene glycol, and an about 700 bp DNA fragment containing 5'-flanking sequence of bovine alpha s1-casein gene showed promoter activity in the transfected BMEC.
