We present a detailed study, on time scales from picoseconds to seconds, of transient and continuous wave cw photoconductivity in solution-grown thin films of functionalized pentacene Pc , anthradithiophene ADT , and dicyanomethylenedihydrofuran DCDHF . In all films, at temperatures of 285–350 K, we observe fast carrier photogeneration and nonthermally… (More)
We report on the contribution of effects at the organic semiconductor-metal interfaces to dark current and to transient and continuous wave cw photocurrent in high-performance functionalized anthradithiophene ADT films deposited from solution on glass substrates with gold Au and aluminum Al electrodes. In all samples, fast sub-30 ps charge carrier… (More)
MUCH is known about the existence of balanced polymorphism in the genus Cepaea and the influence of bird predators in establishing a variety of equilibria under a wide diversity of environmental conditions. The Brownlipped Snail (C. nemoralis) is particularly well suited for such investigations since it exhibits characteristic variations in the colour of… (More)
Raman spectra of 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholines specifically deuterated in the 2 chain at one of positions 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, and 14 have been obtained as a function of temperature. The frequencies of the CD2 vibrational stretching modes depend on the position of the labeled CD2 group, being maximum at position 3 of the acyl chain and then… (More)
We present optical, fluorescent and photoconductive temperature dependent properties of novel high-performance solution-processable functionalized anthradithiophene and dicyanomethylenedihydrofuran derivatives. Changes in fluorescence lifetime, fluorescence quantum yield, and photoconductivity with temperature are discussed.
We present optical, fluorescent and photoconductive properties of high-performance anthradithiophene and functionalized pentacene derivatives. Fluorescence emission with lifetimes around or longer than ~10 ns is observed at visible and near-infrared wavelengths, depending on the molecule.
Control of the optical mode in high power lasers is essential for a range of high brightness optical pumping applications. The inclusion of a lens within the cavity of a semiconductor laser is desirable not only to increase the proportion of light coupled back into the optical waveguide for improved efficiency, but also in the reduction of the divergence in… (More)
Following recent torsional oscillator measurements which appear to show the 'non-classical rotational inertia' which characterizes a supersolid, a number of experiments have searched for evidence of unusual behavior in other properties. We have developed a new technique for measuring the shear modulus of solid helium at low frequencies and small strains. In… (More)
