1. Carbachol produced a relaxation of dilator muscle at a concentration lower than 1 microM and a contraction at a concentration higher than 1 microM. 2. We studied the effects of the M1-selective antagonist, pirenzepine, the M2-selective antagonist, himbacine, the M3-selective antagonist, 4-diphenyl-acetoxy-N-methylpiperidine methiodide (4-DAMP) and the(More)
—The ultrahigh-definition television (UDTV) camera system requires an image sensor having four times higher resolution and two times higher frame rate than the conventional HDTV systems. Also, an image sensor with a small optical format and low power consumption is required for practical UDTV camera systems. To respond to these requirements, we have(More)
—A stacked CMOS-active pixel sensor (APS) with a newly devised pixel structure for charged particle detection has been developed. At low operation temperatures (< 200 K), the dark current of the CMOS-APS is determined by the hot carrier effect. A twin well CMOS pixel with a p-MOS readout and n-MOS reset circuit achieves low leakage current as low as 5 10 8(More)
Contractile mechanisms by carbachol and ATP were compared in the detrusor strips of rabbit bladder. To exclude modulation of the agonists-induced responses by intramurally synthesized prostaglandins, all the experiments were done in the presence of the potent cyclooxygenase inhibitor flurbiprofen (1 microM). The concentration-response curves for carbachol(More)
Current psychopathology classifies schizophrenic positive symptoms into four groups: delusions, hallucinations, formal thought disorder, and catatonic symptoms. The present study explores the factor structure of different positive symptoms to refine this classification. The 35 positive symptoms of 429 psychiatric patients, consecutively admitted to any of(More)
This article describes the recent law reform on forensic mental health and its background in Japan, focusing on the enactment of the Medical Treatment and Supervision Act in 2005. The new system-under which a person who commits a serious criminal offence in a state of insanity or diminished responsibility shall be referred by the public prosecutor to the(More)
Interactions of several muscarinic drugs with their receptors were studied in the ciliary body smooth muscle of rabbits and the ileal longitudinal muscle of guinea-pigs, using pharmacological and biochemical procedures. The dissociation constants of carbachol, pilocarpine, atropine and pirenzepine estimated by these procedures indicate no heterogeneity of(More)
1. Nicotine produced a transient contraction of isolated strips of guinea-pig urinary bladder. The response to nicotine was antagonized by the nicotinic receptor antagonist, hexamethonium but was insensitive to tetrodotoxin. 2. The nicotine-induced contraction was potentiated by the cholinesterase inhibitor, physostigmine, and was reduced to 50% and 70% by(More)
A new CMOS active pixel with reset noise reduction capability using capacitive feedback reset (CFR) is proposed. The CFR pixel with capacitive feedback consists of a photodiode, four MOS transistors, a feedback capacitor and a buffer capacitor. It can be fabricated in standard CMOS process, thus yielding a low noise pixel without additional process steps.(More)
