This paper discusses the year-long activity at NAS to implement a large, loose cluster of workstations from the existing Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) pool of systems. Issues related to establishing a loosely coupled cluster of workstations are presented. Included are steps needed to resolve system management issues intended to provided reasonable cycle(More)
or [rle ,3Lno mawall in[er[_auor_ap k, onrerence on bystem bclences-i_"o_ Abstract We designed a new network architecture, the P-Mesh, which combhres the scalabili_, and fault resilience of a torus with the performance of a switch. We compare tire scalability, performance, and cost of the hub, switch, torus, tree, and P-Mesh architectures. Tire latter three(More)
We report on the electrostatic design and related measurements of the barrel Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector for the Stanford Large Detector experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Linear Collider. We include test results of photon feedback in TMAEladen gas, distortion measurements in the drift boxes and corona measurements.
The SLD Barrel Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector was .fully operational in the 1992 physics data run. The electron drift velocity and magnetic field deflection of electron trajec-tories have been measured. Cherenkov rings have been observed from both the liquid and gas radiators. The number and the resolution of the angle of Cherenkov photons have been(More)
