Three new lupane triterpenes were isolated from the root bark of Maytenus cuzcoina and the leaves of MayTenus chiapensis, and exhibited potent inhibitory effects on NO and prostaglandin E(2) production in mouse macrophages stimulated with bacterial endotoxin. Expand

Four new dihydro-β-agarofuran sesquiterpenes were isolated from the leaves of Celastrus vulcanicola, in addition to five derivatives, which exhibited antituberculosis activity against the MDR TB strain with a MIC value of 6.2 μg/mL, comparable to or better than isoniazid or rifampin, two of the best first-line drugs commonly used in the treatment of TB.
