Meninigo-encepahlocoele (MEC) is a common neurosurgical operation. The size of MEC may vary which has bearing with its management. The association of MEC with micrognathia and microcephaly is rarely reported. The association poses special problem for intubation and maintenance of anaesthesia. Giant MEC may lead to significant CSF loss resulting in… (More)
Meningomyelocoele (MMC) forms one of the commonest forms of neural tube defect (NTD). It commonly affects lumbosacral area. Double or triple MMC has been reported at various sites of the spine. This supports multiple site closure of neural tube. We report a case of double MMC located at back of head, adjacent to each other like twin MMC. To our best… (More)
BACKGROUND Extraventricular neurocytoma is a well-established entity, and non-classical sites like the cerebellum and spinal cord have occasionally been reported. CASE We report a rare case of intramedullary neurocytoma in an 8-year-old boy who presented with paraparesis and urinary incontinence. This tumour was isointense on T1-weighted image and… (More)
Lateral intraventricular tumors are uncommon. They grow linearly rather than exponentially and hence are slow-growing lesions without causing mass effects and hydrocephalus. We report a rare case of large bulky right intraventricular epidermoid tumor in a child. This tumor was associated with mass effect on the surrounding structures and hydrocephalus.
Pituitary tumour have a wide way of presentation. Epistaxis due to pituitary adenoma has been rarely reported. There is no report of bleeding from nose as clinical first presentation in a child. We report the first case in literature where a child had epistaxis for eight months before deterioration of vision. He was found to be having a invasive… (More)
OBJECTIVES Most of our understanding of ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt blockage (ventricular end) is based on in vitro studies of blocked VP shunts. Not much information is available regarding the in vivo changes that occur in the tube and in the surrounding ventricle. The primary aim of our study was to observe and analyse these changes, directly, through… (More)
There are several reports about the optimization of protease production, but only few have optimized the production of organic solvent tolerant keratinolytic proteases that show remarkable exploitation in the development of the non-polluting processes in biotechnological industries. The present study was carried with aim to optimize the production of a… (More)
Vertebral hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors of the spine that remain asymptomatic in most cases and incidentally encountered on imaging. Rarely, altered hemodynamic and hormonal changes during pregnancy may expand these benign lesions resulting in severe cord compression. The management of symptomatic vertebral hemangioma during pregnancy is… (More)
Impaction of foreign body in larynx is reported exclusively in paediatric population only. Moreover impaction of coin in larynx has never been reported previously. With this background, we report a rare case of coin impaction in larynx in a healthy adult.
