Spread of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus between the community and the hospitals in Asian countries: an ANSORP study.
- Jae-Hoon Song, P. Hsueh, P. H. Vân
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
- 1 May 2011
It is confirmed that MRSA infections in the community have been increasing in Asian countries and data suggest that various MRSA clones have spread between the community and hospitals as well as between countries.
Changing Trends in Antimicrobial Resistance and Serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae Isolates in Asian Countries: an Asian Network for Surveillance of Resistant Pathogens (ANSORP) Study
- So Hyun Kim, Jae-Hoon Song, K. Peck
- Medicine, BiologyAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 9 January 2012
The most remarkable findings about the epidemiology of S. pneumoniae in Asian countries after the introduction of PCV7 were the high prevalence of macrolide resistance and MDR and distinctive increases in serotype 19A.
Genetic Characterization of Highly Fluoroquinolone-Resistant Clinical Escherichia coli Strains from China: Role ofacrR Mutations
- Hui Wang, J. Dzink-Fox, Min-jun Chen, S. Levy
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 May 2001
It is shown that mutations in acrR are an additional genetic basis for fluoroquinolone resistance, which reduced the level of AcrA in the mutants and partially restored antibiotic susceptibility 1.5- to 6-fold.
Molecular Evidence for Spread of Two Major Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Clones with a Unique Geographic Distribution in Chinese Hospitals
- Yudong Liu, Hui Wang, Min-jun Chen
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 24 November 2008
Two major epidemic MRSA clones are documented, ST239-MRSA-SCCmec type III and ST5- MRSA- SCCmemec type II, with unique geographic distributions across China.
Epidemiology of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae Infections: Report from the China CRE Network
- Yawei Zhang, Qi Wang, Hui Wang
- Medicine, BiologyAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 4 December 2017
The patient-based disease burden in tertiary hospitals in China is severe, suggesting an urgent need to enhance infection control, and carbapenemase gene identification was performed.
High Prevalence of Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae Infection in China: Geographic Distribution, Clinical Characteristics, and Antimicrobial Resistance
- Yawei Zhang, Chun-jiang Zhao, Hui Wang
- Medicine, BiologyAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 1 August 2016
The prevalence of hvKP is high in China and has a varied geographic distribution, suggesting an urgent need to enhance clinical awareness, especially for immunocompromised patients receiving combination therapy.
The global distribution and spread of the mobilized colistin resistance gene mcr-1
- Ruobing Wang, L. van Dorp, F. Balloux
- BiologybioRxiv
- 17 November 2017
The results provide the first systematic phylogenetic analysis of the origin and spread of mcr-1, and emphasize the importance of understanding the movement of antibiotic resistance genes across multiple levels of genomic organization.
High prevalence of macrolide resistance in Mycoplasma pneumoniae isolates from adult and adolescent patients with respiratory tract infection in China.
- B. Cao, Chun-jiang Zhao, Chen Wang
- Medicine, BiologyClinical Infectious Diseases
- 15 July 2010
The resistance rate of 67 Mycoplasma pneumoniae isolates from 356 ambulatory adult patients with respiratory tract infection was 69% (46 of 67). All 46 macrolide-resistant strains harbored point…
Characterization of Community Acquired Staphylococcus aureus Associated with Skin and Soft Tissue Infection in Beijing: High Prevalence of PVL+ ST398
- Chun-jiang Zhao, Ying-mei Liu, Hui Wang
- Medicine, BiologyPLoS ONE
- 6 June 2012
In conclusion, CA-MRSA infections were rare among adult SSTI patients in Beijing and ST59 isolates showed more resistance to erythromycin, clindamycin and tetracycline, and needed more surgical intervention.
Molecular Epidemiology of Clinical Isolates of Carbapenem-Resistant Acinetobacter spp. from Chinese Hospitals
- Hui Wang, Ping Guo, Yuan-jue Zhu
- Biology, MedicineAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 10 September 2007
ABSTRACT Carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter spp. is an emerging problem in China. We investigated the molecular epidemiology and carbapenemase genes of 221 nonrepetitive imipenem-resistant…
