Biochar BC850 was found to be effective in reducing the bioavailability of both pesticides from the soil and could be applied to sequester pesticide residues in contaminated soils and to reduce plant uptake.

Five new verticillin-type epipolysulfanydioxopiperazines were isolated from wheat solid-substrate fermentation of Gliocladium roseum 1A, and all nine compounds exhibited antinematodal activity against Caenorhabditis elegans and Panagrellus redivivus.

The antiviral structure-activity relationships of quassinoids against TMV were discussed and eight compounds showed strong antiviral activities, with IC(50) values in the range of 3.42-5.66 microM.

Five new benzylphenethylamine alkaloids were isolated from Hosta plantaginea by bioassay-guided fractionation and established by means of extensive spectroscopic methods, and the relative configuration of 1 was further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
