Expression and occupancy of BAFF-R on B cells in systemic lupus erythematosus.
Total available receptors for BLyS were decreased in patients with SLE, independent of changes of subsets in the blood in these patients, and BAFF-R was occupied in SLE patients.
Major trends in human parasitic diseases in China.
- Ting Li, Shen-yi He, Hong Zhao, Guanghui Zhao, Xing-Quan Zhu
- MedicineTrends in parasitology
- 1 May 2010
Large-scale outbreaks of food-borne parasitic diseases and emerging parasitic diseases are becoming the focus of new campaigns for control and prevention in mainland China.
Costimulation as a platform for the development of vaccines: a peptide-based vaccine containing a novel form of 4-1BB ligand eradicates established tumors.
Therapeutic efficacy was associated with reversal of tumor-mediated nonresponsiveness/anergy as well as establishment of long-term CD8(+) T-cell memory and potent pleiotropic immunomodulatory activities combined with lack of toxicity highlight the potential of 4-1BBL molecule as an effective component of therapeutic cancer vaccines.
Pancreatic Islets Engineered with SA-FasL Protein Establish Robust Localized Tolerance by Inducing Regulatory T Cells in Mice

- Biology, MedicineThe Journal of Immunology
- 1 December 2011
Engineering islets ex vivo in a rapid and efficient manner to display on their surface immunomodulatory proteins represents a novel, safe, and clinically applicable approach with important implications for the treatment of type 1 diabetes.
Toxoplasma gondii: protective effect of an intranasal SAG1 and MIC4 DNA vaccine in mice.

These vaccines were able to elicit a significant humoral and cellular immune response in vaccinated mice and they can increase survival rate and prolong the life of mice that were infected by T. gondii especially in the pcDNA3.1-SAG1-MIC4 group.
Sensitized Recipients Exhibit Accelerated but not Hyperacute Rejection of Vascularized Composite Tissue Allografts
VCTA are rejected in an accelerated fashion but not hyperacutely in the presence of allosensitization and preformed anti-donor antibody and differs mechanistically from that for renal transplants.
A novel histone deacetylase inhibitor Chidamide induces apoptosis of human colon cancer cells.
- Lin Liu, Baoan Chen, +5 authors Hong Zhao
- Chemistry, MedicineBiochemical and biophysical research…
- 5 February 2010
Chidamide was able to increase the acetylation levels of histone H3 and to inhibit the PI3K/Akt and MAPK/Ras signaling pathways, which resulted in arresting colon cancer cells at the G1 phase of the cell cycle and promoting apoptosis, which support the potential application of Chidamide as an anticancer agent in treating colon cancer.
In vivo CRISPR screening unveils histone demethylase UTX as an important epigenetic regulator in lung tumorigenesis
- Qibiao Wu, Yahui Tian, +23 authors H. Ji
- Biology, MedicineProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
- 9 April 2018
This work provides a systematic screening of TSGs in vivo and demonstrates UTX functions as the important epigenetic regulator in lung tumorigenesis, and identifies UTX as an important epigenetically regulated gene in lung cancer.
4-1BB ligand as an effective multifunctional immunomodulator and antigen delivery vehicle for the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines.
Therapeutic subunit vaccines based on tumor-associated antigens (TAA) represent an attractive approach for the treatment of cancer. However, poor immunogenicity of TAAs requires potent adjuvants for…
