A principal component analyses with multiple linear regression based on the profiles of all target compounds was applied to identify the source apportionment and to predict the contribution from different sources and it was found that 62.7% of the mean summed hormones were contributed by freshly discharged untreated sewage.

The results suggest that risk assessment paradigms for PBDEs and their metabolites need reevaluation and that human exposure to MeO-PBDEs that occur naturally in marine organisms should be considered.
Occurrence of natural and synthetic glucocorticoids in sewage treatment plants and receiving river waters.

- 14 April 2007
The ratio between the combined concentrations of two natural glucocorticoids (cortisol and cortisone) and the concentration of one synthetic glucocORTicoid, prednisolone, was found to be a potential index to reflect the wastewater discharging.
Trace analysis of quinolone and fluoroquinolone antibiotics from wastewaters by liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry.

- BiologyEnvironmental Science and Technology
- 8 March 2011
Glucocorticoids, androgens, and progestogens were mainly removed by degradation as with estrogens, while different behaviors were observed in the aerated grit chamber, anaerobic tank, anoxic tank, and aerobic tank units.

Concentrations of 6-OH-BDE-47 in maternal and cord serum were positively correlated, with concentrations being significantly greater in cord blood serum and a major effect of OH-PBDE exposure might be a decrease in serum T4 concentrations.
Interconversion of hydroxylated and methoxylated polybrominated diphenyl ethers in Japanese medaka.

Direct in vivo evidence of biotransformation of 6-MeO-BDE-47 to 6-OH-Bde-47 is presented, the first study of its kind to demonstrate biotranformation among structurally related compounds in exposed organisms, and the previously hypothesized formation of OH-PBDEs from synthetic BDE- 47 did not occur.
