This paper presents a compact and low cost setup for generating SEL and SEU in CMOS components. The setup consists of a pulse generator, a laser driver, focussing optics and 650 nm or 780 nm diode lasers. No laser safety equipment is needed because the system is working as a class 1 laser device.
