The protective profile of argon, helium, and xenon in a model of neonatal asphyxia in rats*
These studies indicate that argon and xenon provide neuroprotection against both moderate and severe hypoxia–ischemic brain injury likely through prosurvival proteins synthesis. Expand
The role of osteopontin in the progression of solid organ tumour
The potential role of OPN in tumour cell proliferation, angiogenesis and metastasis, as well as the molecular mechanisms involved in these processes in different cancers, are discussed. Expand
Dexmedetomidine provides renoprotection against ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice
The data suggest that Dex likely activates cell survival signal pAKT via α2 adrenoceptors to reduce cell death and HMGB1 release and subsequently inhibits TLR4 signaling to provide reno-protection. Expand

It is shown that preconditioning with the anesthetic gas xenon activates hypoxia-inducible factor 1alpha and its downstream effectors erythropoietin and vascular endothelial growth factor in a time-dependent manner in the kidneys of adult mice, and that administration of xenon before renal ischemia can prevent acute renal failure. Expand
The role of extracellular histone in organ injury
Drugs that block the release of histone, neutralise circulating histone or block histone signal transduction provide significant protection from mortality in animal models of acute organ injury but warrant further research to inform future clinical applications. Expand
The Role of Interleukin 17 in Tumour Proliferation, Angiogenesis, and Metastasis
This review will look into IL-17 and summarise the current information and data on its role in the pathophysiology of cancer as well as its potential application in the overall management of the disease. Expand
Necroptosis and parthanatos are involved in remote lung injury after receiving ischemic renal allografts in rats.
The possible role of regulated necrosis in remote lung injury in a rat allogeneic transplantation model could provide the molecular basis for combination therapy targeting both pathways ofregulated necrosis to treat complications after renal transplantation. Expand
Heme Oxygenase-1 Mediates Neuroprotection Conferred by Argon in Combination with Hypothermia in Neonatal Hypoxia–Ischemia Brain Injury
Argon combined with hypothermia provides neuroprotection against cerebral hypoxia-ischemia damage in neonatal rats, which could serve as a new therapeutic strategy against hypoxic–ischemic encephalopathy. Expand
Role of Toll-like receptor-4 in renal graft ischemia-reperfusion injury.
A detailed overview of the new understanding of the involvement of TLR-4 in ischemia-reperfusion injury of renal grafts and its clinical significance in renal transplantation is provided. Expand
The role of nuclear factor-erythroid 2 related factor 2 (Nrf-2) in the protection against lung injury.
The present review explores the protective role of Nrf-2 against lung injury and the therapeutic potential in targeting NRF-2. Expand
