- Shu-yu Zhang, Y. Yi, Hai-Feng Tang
- ChemistryJournal of Natural Products
- 7 October 2006
Three new triterpene glycosides are isolated as active compounds causing morphological abnormality of Pyricularia oryzae mycelia and showed in vitro cytotoxicity against two human tumor cell lines.
Antifungal triterpene glycosides from the sea cucumber Bohadschia marmorata.
Four new holostan-type triterpene glycosides were isolated from the sea cucumber Bohadschia Marmorata Jaeger and exhibited significant antifungal activity against six strains.

- Wen-Lin Li, Y. Yi, Zhong‐Hua Wang
- ChemistryJournal of Natural Products
- 2003
The structure was elucidated as cyclo-(Pro1-Trp-Leu-Thr-Pro2-Gly-Phe) on the basis of MS, UV, IR, and high-field NMR analysis, and the compound was significantly cytotoxic against the human hepatoma BEL-7404 cell line with an ED(50) < 10(-2) microg/mL.
Asterosaponin 1, a cytostatic compound from the starfish Culcita novaeguineae, functions by inducing apoptosis in human glioblastoma U87MG cells
- Guang Cheng, Xiang Zhang, Bo-Quan Jin
- BiologyJournal of Neuro-Oncology
- 21 April 2006
The data demonstrate that asterosaponin 1 is fully equipped for an efficient apoptotic killing of glioblastoma cells and suggest that this mechanism may play a critical role in anti-tumor chemotherapy.

- Juan Li, Hai-Feng Tang, Z. Fei
- BiologyPLoS ONE
- 21 November 2013
The results suggest that saponin 1 exhibits significant in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor efficacy and merits further investigation as a potential therapeutic agent for GBM.
Saponin B, a novel cytostatic compound purified from Anemone taipaiensis, induces apoptosis in a human glioblastoma cell line.
- Yuangang Wang, Hai-Feng Tang, Z. Fei
- Biology, ChemistryInternational Journal of Molecular Medicine
- 1 November 2013
The novel compound, saponin B, effectively induces the apoptosis of GBM cells and inhibits glioma cell growth and survival and may be a potential candidate for the development of novel cancer therapeutics with antitumor activity against gliomas.
