Dealing with uncertainty in ecosystem models: The paradox of use for living marine resource management
TLDR
We characterize uncertainty as applied to ecosystem models into six major factors, including: natural variability; observation error; inadequate communication among scientists, decision-makers and stakeholders; the structural complexity of the model(s) used; outcome uncertainty; and unclear management objectives. ASSESSMENT OF COSTS OF REPRODUCTION IN A PELAGIC SEABIRD USING MULTISTATE MARK–RECAPTURE MODELS
Abstract We used a long-term population band-resight survey database, a parallel reproduction database, and multistate mark–recapture analysis to assess the costs of reproduction, a keystone conceptExpand
Ecosystem effects of invertebrate fisheries
Since the 1950s, invertebrate fisheries catches have rapidly expanded globally to more than 10 million tonnes annually, with twice as many target species, and are now significant contributors toExpand
Characterizing coastal foodwebs with qualitative links to bridge the gap between the theory and the practice of ecosystem-based management

Decadal-scale variation in diet forecasts persistently poor breeding under ocean warming in a tropical seabird
Climate change effects on population dynamics of natural populations are well documented at higher latitudes, where relatively rapid warming illuminates cause-effect relationships, but not in theExpand
Using a fisheries ecosystem model with a water quality model to explore trophic and habitat impacts on a fisheries stock: A case study of the blue crab population in the Chesapeake Bay
Abstract Recent calls for the development of ecosystem-based fisheries management compel the development of resource management tools and linkages between existing fisheries management tools andExpand
EFFECTS OF MILITARY ACTIVITY ON REPRODUCTIVE SUCCESS OF RED-COCKADED WOODPECKERS
Abstract Although significant numbers of the federally endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker (Picoides borealis) occur at military installations, little research has been initiated to determine whatExpand
Determination of hematology and plasma chemistry reference intervals for 3 populations of captive Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus oxyrinchus).
BACKGROUND The imperiled status of Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus oxyrinchus), a large, long-lived, anadromous fish found along the Atlantic coast of North America, has prompted efforts atExpand
