Berberine suppresses proinflammatory responses through AMPK activation in macrophages.
It is shown that BBR represses proinflammatory responses through AMPK activation in macrophages via AMPK stimulation, and inhibitory effects of BBR on pro inflammatory responses were abolished by AMPK inhibition via either compound C, an AMPK inhibitor, or dominant-negative AMPK. Expand

Treatment of (-)-catechin increased insulin-dependent glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes and augmented the expression of adipogenic marker genes, including PPARgamma, CEBPalpha, FAS, and SCD-1, when (-)- catechin was treated during adipocytes. Expand
Effects of Collagen Tripeptide Supplement on Photoaging and Epidermal Skin Barrier in UVB-exposed Hairless Mice
Oral administration of CTP increased skin elasticity and decreased abnormal elastic fiber formation and strongly suggest that CTP has potential as an anti-photoaging agent. Expand
Effect of Aspergillus oryzae-challenged germination on soybean isoflavone content and antioxidant activity.
Results indicate that using food-grade A. oryzae to elicit the biosynthesis of phytoalexins alters the secondary metabolite profiles of the soybeans and offers enhanced bioactivity of soybean as a functional food ingredient. Expand
Anti-obesity effects of Lysimachia foenum-graecum characterized by decreased adipogenesis and regulated lipid metabolism
Results showed anti-obesity effects of LFE on adipogenesis and lipid metabolism in vitro and in vivo and raised a possibility of developing LFE as anti-OBesity therapeutics. Expand
1H NMR-based metabolomic characterization during green tea (Camellia sinensis) fermentation
Abstract The metabolic behavior of green tea ( Camellia sinensis ) during tea fermentation was characterized by 1 H NMR spectroscopy coupled with multivariate statistical analysis to provideExpand
[4-t-butylphenyl]-N-(4-imidazol-1-yl phenyl)sulfonamide (ISCK03) inhibits SCF/c-kit signaling in 501mel human melanoma cells and abolishes melanin production in mice and brownish guinea pigs.
Results indicate that phenyl-imidazole sulfonamide derivatives are potent c-kit inhibitors and might be used as skin-whitening agents. Expand
Deoxypodophyllotoxin reduces skin pigmentation of brown Guinea pigs.
It is demonstrated that deoxypodophyllotoxin from Anthriscus sylvestris (L.) Hoffm decreases UV-induced skin pigmentation of brown guinea pigs and total epidermal melanin when compared to that of vehicle-treated areas, suggesting that de oxypodophical toxin maybe applicable to treat hyperpigmentation. GCG-Rich Tea Catechins are Effective in Lowering Cholesterol and Triglyceride Concentrations in Hyperlipidemic Rats
It is indicated that GCG-rich tea catechins in tea beverages may be effective in preventing hyperlipidemia by lowering plasma and hepatic cholesterol concentrations. Expand
A Newly Identified CG301269 Improves Lipid and Glucose Metabolism Without Body Weight Gain Through Activation of Peroxisome Proliferator–Activated Receptor α and γ
It is demonstrated that CG301269 exhibits beneficial effects on glucose and lipid metabolism by simultaneous activation of both PPARα and PPARγ and would be a potential lead compound against obesity and related metabolic disorders. Expand
