Macrofaunal community structure and sulfide flux at gas hydrate deposits from the Cascadia convergent margin, NE Pacific
- H. Sahling, D. Rickert, Raymond W. Lee, P. Linke, E. Suess
- Environmental Science
- 23 April 2002
The rarefaction curves show a decrease in species diversity in the Beggiatoa and Calyptogena communities and the difference in the sulfide environment is a factor influencing the distribution patterns of the chemoautotrophy-dependant and heterotrophic species at the deep-sea sediments containing gas hydrate.

Fluid seepage at the continental margin offshore Costa Rica and southern Nicaragua
- H. Sahling, D. Masson, E. Suess
- Geology

A systematic search for methane‐rich fluid seeps at the seafloor was conducted at the Pacific continental margin offshore southern Nicaragua and northern central Costa Rica, a convergent margin…
Vesicomyidae (Bivalvia): Current Taxonomy and Distribution
- E. Krylova, H. Sahling
- BiologyPLoS ONE
- 1 April 2010
It is suggested that the Vesicomyidae is not a synonym of Kelliellidae, and is therefore a valid family name, and the family is proposed to be divided into two subfamilies: VesIComyinae and Pliocardiinae.
Hydrogeological system of erosional convergent margins and its influence on tectonics and interplate seismogenesis
- C. Ranero, I. Grevemeyer, K. Mcintosh
- Geology
- 1 March 2008
Fluid distribution in convergent margins is by most accounts closely related to tectonics. This association has been widely studied at accretionary prisms, but at half of the Earth's convergent…
Gas emissions at the continental margin west of Svalbard: mapping, sampling, and quantification
- H. Sahling, M. Römer, G. Bohrmann
- Environmental Science
- 6 November 2014
We mapped, sampled, and quantified gas emissions at the continental margin west of Svalbard during R/V Heincke cruise He-387 in late summer 2012. Hydroacoustic mapping revealed that gas emissions…
Sea Floor Methane Hydrates at Hydrate Ridge, Cascadia Margin
The crest of Hydrate Ridge harbors a variety of gas hydrates in near-surface sediments. Hydrate formation and destruction continuously shape the ridge topography. Interstitial Cl-anomaly patterns in…
Fluid venting activity on the Costa Rica margin: new results from authigenic carbonates

Carbonate precipitates on mounds and along tectonic scarps off the Costa Rica margin are manifestations of subduction-induced dewatering. The long-term dewatering history is recorded in…
