M-phase kinases induce phospho-dependent ubiquitination of somatic Wee1 by SCFbeta-TrCP.
The analysis indicates that beta-TrCP-dependent degradation of Wee1A is important for the normal onset of M-phase in vivo and establishes the existence of a feedback loop between Cdc2 and Wee 1A in somatic cells that depends on ubiquitination and protein degradation and ensures the rapid activation of CDC2 when cells are ready to divide.
In vivo destabilization of dynamic microtubules by HDAC6‐mediated deacetylation
It is suggested that acetylation and deacetylation are coupled to the microtubule turnover and that HDAC6 plays a key regulatory role in the stability of the dynamic microtubules.

Chemical genetic screening identifies a novel inhibitor of parallel alignment of cortical microtubules and cellulose microfibrils.
Examining cellulose microfibril regeneration using taxol-treated protoplasts revealed that the cobtorin compound perturbed the parallel alignment of pre-existing cortical microtubules and nascent cellulosemicrofibrils, suggesting strong binding activity to the putative target.
RECK negatively regulates matrix metalloproteinase-9 transcription.
The gene expression profiles between mock- and RECK-transfected HT1080 cells were compared and showed that RECK decreases MMP-9 mRNA levels but not other MMP mRNA levels, and that RECk is a negative regulator of M MP-9 transcription.

Two new protein phosphatase inhibitors, oscillamide B and C, were isolated from the cyanobacteria Planktothrix (Oscillatoria) agardhii and P. rubescens and elucidated by analysis of HRFABMS, 1D and 2D NMR spectra, and chemical degradation.
