Alcanivorax borkumensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new, hydrocarbon-degrading and surfactant-producing marine bacterium.
- M. Yakimov, P. Golyshin, K. Timmis
- BiologyInternational journal of systematic bacteriology
- 1 April 1998
A new genus and species, Alcanivorax borkumensis, is described to include six heterotrophic bacterial strains isolated from enriched mixed cultures, obtained from sea water/sediment samples collected near the isle of Borkum (North Sea), using Mihagol-S (C14,15-n-alkanes) as principal carbon source.
Isolation of Novel Ultramicrobacteria Classified as Actinobacteria from Five Freshwater Habitats in Europe and Asia
- M. Hahn, H. Lünsdorf, P. Stadler
- Biology, Environmental ScienceApplied and Environmental Microbiology
- 1 March 2003
The first freshwater members of the class Actinobacteria that have been isolated from five freshwater habitats in Europe and Asia are described and it is demonstrated that at least one of the ultramicrobacteria isolated is protected against predation by the bacterivorous nanoflagellate Ochromonas sp.
Microcolony formation: a novel biofilm model of Pseudomonas aeruginosa for the cystic fibrosis lung.

Growth of P. aeruginosa in artificial sputum medium is an appropriate model of chronic lung colonization and may be useful for evaluating therapeutic procedures and studying antibiotic-resistance mechanisms.
Dinoroseobacter shibae gen. nov., sp. nov., a new aerobic phototrophic bacterium isolated from dinoflagellates.
A novel group of aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria was isolated from marine dinoflagellates, and two strains were characterized in detail, and it is proposed to classify the strains in a new genus and species within the Roseobacter clade, Dinoroseobacter shibae gen. nov.
Ferroplasma acidiphilum gen. nov., sp. nov., an acidophilic, autotrophic, ferrous-iron-oxidizing, cell-wall-lacking, mesophilic member of the Ferroplasmaceae fam. nov., comprising a distinct lineage…
An isolate of an acidophilic archaeon, strain YT, was obtained from a bioleaching pilot plant and showed this strain to cluster phylogenetically within the order 'Thermoplasmales' sensu Woese, although with only 89.9% sequence identity to its closest relatives, Picrophilus oshimae and Thermoplasma acidophilum.
Roseovarius mucosus sp. nov., a member of the Roseobacter clade with trace amounts of bacteriochlorophyll a.
- H. Biebl, M. Allgaier, H. Lünsdorf, R. Pukall, B. Tindall, I. Wagner-Döbler
- BiologyInternational journal of systematic and…
- 1 November 2005
The strain, designated DFL-24T, originated from a culture of Alexandrium ostenfeldii and contained small amounts of bacteriochlorophyll a, corresponding to about 1 % of the amount found in intensely pigmented aerobic phototrophs such as Roseobacter litoralis, and is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Roseovarius.
Biochemical and Structural Insights into Bacterial Organelle Form and Biogenesis*
It is shown that the 21 gene regulon specifying the pdu organelle and propanediol utilization enzymes from Citrobacter freundii is fully functional when cloned in Escherichia coli, both producing metabolosomes and allowing propanedol utilization.
Oleispira antarctica gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel hydrocarbonoclastic marine bacterium isolated from Antarctic coastal sea water.
A novel genus and species within the gamma-Proteobacteria are proposed, Oleispira antarctica gen. nov., sp.
GARP: a key receptor controlling FOXP3 in human regulatory T cells
GARP is identified as a key receptor controlling FOXP3 in Treg cells following T‐cell activation in a positive feedback loop assisted by LGALS3 and LGMN, which represents a promising new system for the therapeutic manipulation of T cells in human disease.
Oceanicaulis alexandrii gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel stalked bacterium isolated from a culture of the dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense (Lebour) Balech.
Five bacterial strains isolated from a non-toxigenic strain of the marine dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense (Lebour) Balech CCMP 116 (NEPCC C116) are proposed to comprise a new species of a new genus, Oceanicaulis alexandrii gen. nov., sp.
