Slow inward current and its role mediating the chronotropic effect of epinephrine in the rabbit sinoatrfal node

Voltage clamp experiments using the two microelectrode technique revealed the following changes in the membrane current: epinephrine increased the limiting conductance for the slow inward current (is) by approximately 30% and the potassium current (ik) by about 10%, keeping the kinetics ofis andik constant.

In hyperuricemia patients with primary hyperparathyroidism, the reduction of tubular urate secretion via hypoperfusion of the capillary network is typically present, however, the severity of the hyperurcemia might be dependent on the dysfunction of the postsecretory reabsorption of urate.

Electrophysiological study of cibenzoline in voltage-clamped rabbit sinoatrial node preparations.

The results suggest that cibenzoline exerts a depressant effect on the electrical activity of sinoatrial node cells and that the depression of the currents induced by ciberenzoline is due to a reduction in conductances of the current systems.

Clinical significance of hypouricemia in hospitalized patients.

Serum uric acid was measured in 586 normal subjects and 1,220 hospitalized patients and hypouricemia was found to be relatively common in hospitalized patients, and seems to be caused mainly by medication, neoplastic diseases, liver disorders and transfusions.

The QRS axis of 101 patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and 57 normal subjects without CAD who underwent coronary arteriograms were measured before and after exercise testing and the axis shift response is no more sensitive for the detection of CAD than ST depression.
