Observations on the projections and intrinsic organization of the pigeon optic tectum: An autoradiographic study based on anterograde and retrograde, axonal and dendritic flow
Three aspects of the labelling pattern seen after the injection of 13 different radioactive amino acids into the pigeon optic tectum have been described: The efferent projections of the optic tectum;…
Projections of the precentral motor cortex and other cortical areas of the frontal lobe to the subthalamic nucleus in the monkey
- K. H. Monakow, K. Akert, H. Künzle
- BiologyExperimental Brain Research
- 15 November 1978
It is concluded that the subthalamic nucleus is a convergence site of pallidal and corticomotor and frontal projections and may exert an influence on the pallido-subthalamic-pallidal inhibitory feedback loop.
Efferent connections of cortical, area 8 (frontal eye field) in Macaca fascicularis. A reinvestigation using the autoradiographic technique
The efferent projections from the cortical area 8 (frontal eye field) have been re‐examined in four adult monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) by injecting small amounts of H3 ‐proline into the rostral bank…
An autoradiographic analysis of the efferent connections from premotor and adjacent prefrontal regions (areas 6 and 9) in macaca fascicularis.
- H. Künzle
- BiologyBrain, Behavior and Evolution
- 1978
The efferent connections from area 6 and adjacent regions of area 9 were investigated in 9 adult monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) using the autoradiographic technique and differences of projection patterns within area 6 itself and, in particular, the supplementary motor area were discussed.
Projections from the primary somatosensory cortex to basal ganglia and thalamus in the monkey
- H. Künzle
- BiologyExperimental Brain Research
- 19 December 1977
Radioactive amino acids were injected into the postcentral cortex in 6 monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) and fibers were traced to the ipsilateral putamen, to Olszewski's n.
Photoreceptor types and distributions in the retinae of insectivores
The retinae of insectivores have been rarely studied, and their photoreceptor arrangements and expression patterns of visual pigments are largely unknown, suggesting dichromatic color vision like in many other mammals.
Projections of precentral and premotor cortex to the red nucleus and other midbrain areas in macaca fascicularis
- K. H. Monakow, K. Akert, H. Künzle
- BiologyExperimental Brain Research
- 2 January 1979
Midbrain projections from the precentral and premotor cortex were studied autoradiographically in seven macaques and direct evidence for the overlap between corticorubral projections and corresponding areas of origin of the rubrospinal tract was obtained.
