This study demonstrates the power of the targeted use of microarrays in combination with quantitative real-time RT-PCR in identifying and validating new marker genes for gene expression studies.
Tripropeptin C Blocks the Lipid Cycle of Cell Wall Biosynthesis by Complex Formation with Undecaprenyl Pyrophosphate
- H. Hashizume, R. Sawa, A. Nomoto
- Biology, ChemistryAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
- 31 May 2011
TPPC can potentially inhibit C55-PP phosphatase activity, which plays a crucial role in the lipid cycle of peptidoglycan synthesis, and this mode of action is different from that of currently available drugs such as vancomycin, daptomycin, and bacitracin.

Tripropeptins, novel antimicrobial agents produced by Lysobacter sp. I. Taxonomy, isolation and biological activities.
- H. Hashizume, M. Igarashi, S. Hattori, M. Hori, M. Hamada, T. Takeuchi
- Biology, ChemistryJournal of antibiotics (Tokyo. )
- 1 December 2001
Peptide antibiotics tripropeptins A, B, C, D and Z were isolated from cultured cells and broth of Lysobacter sp. The differences among these components are in the lengths of the alkyl side chain.…
Staphylococcal Superantigen-like Protein 10 (SSL10) Inhibits Blood Coagulation by Binding to Prothrombin and Factor Xa via Their γ-Carboxyglutamic Acid (Gla) Domain*
- S. Itoh, Ryosuke Yokoyama, K. Onozaki
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Biological Chemistry
- 10 June 2013
Results indicate that SSL10 inhibits blood coagulation by interfering with activation of coagulations cascade via binding to the Gla domain ofCoagulation factor but not by directly inhibiting thrombin activity, the first finding that the bacterial protein inhibits blood Coagulation via targeting the GlA domain ofcoagulation factors.
IL-1β stimulates urokinase-type plasminogen activator expression and secretion in human dental pulp cells
- N. Kamio, H. Hashizume, S. Nakao, K. Matsushima, H. Sugiya
- Biology
- 1 December 2007
It is suggested that IL-1beta stimulates uPA production via activation of NFkappaB and tyrosine phosphorylation, and also secretion of the enzyme, and that the uPA/plasmin system appears to be involved in inflammation in human dental pulp.

- Patricia Arlt, H. Hashizume, M. Igarashi, H. Gross
- Biology, EngineeringMicrobiology Resource Announcements
- 1 December 2021
The draft genome sequence is reported, which will give insight into the biosynthesis of tripropeptins and enable genome mining for further secondary metabolites in Lysobacter sp.
