Bone‐resorbing activity of thyroid hormones is related to prostaglandin production in cultured neonatal mouse calvaria
- K. Klaushofer, O. Hoffmann, M. Peterlik
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of bone and mineral research : the…
- 1 June 1989
Thyroid hormone action on bone is also mediated by a PG‐independent mechanism, and in some experiments indomethacin reduced thyroid hormone‐mediated bone resorption by only 50%.
3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) lyase deficiency in Saudi Arabia
- P. Ozand, A. Aqeel, G. Gascon, J. Brismar, E. Thomas, H. Gleispach
- MedicineJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease
- 1 March 1991
The acidosis of this enzyme deficiency progresses rapidly, leading to cardiopulmonary arrest and death within hours of onset unless treated promptlyunless treated promptly, in four surviving infants diagnosed and treated early.
The essential oils of Artemisia austriaca Jacq. and Artemisia spicigera C. Koch. from Turkey
The volatile constituents of the aerial parts of Artemisia austriaca Jacq. and Artemisia spicigera C. Koch. from Turkey have been examined by GC, GC–MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The oil of A. austriaca…
Method for the determination of vitamin K1(20) in human plasma by stable isotope dilution/gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
- G. Fauler, H. Leis, J. Schalamon, W. Muntean, H. Gleispach
- ChemistryJournal of mass spectrometry : JMS
- 1 June 1996
The method involves extraction of VK from human plasma and its derivatization to the heptafluorobutyryl ester after reduction of one carbonyl group with zinc, which permits the measurement of vitamin K1(20) even in small quantities of plasma, which is highly desirable in investigations dealing with clotting abnormalities in neonates and infants.
Anticoagulation for continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration in children.
Hparin given continuously in the arterial line of the extracorporeal circuit as anticoagulant in children with initially normal coagulation status, and heparin and/or prostacyclin in high-risk bleeding patients with preexisting coagulopathy in order to prevent early hemofilter clotting is used.
Changes of serum testosterone and of LH-RH test after treatment of cryptorchidism by intranasal LH-RH.
- J. Spona, H. Gleispach, J. Happ, F. Kollmann, T. Torresani, M. von der Ohe
- Medicine, BiologyEndocrinologia experimentalis
Data of the present study combine to suggest that chronic application of LH-RH may result in an overstimulation phenomenon, and that LH- RH test as well as basal testosterone levels cannot be used as prognostic index of therapy efficacy.
A Patient With Propionic Acidemia Managed With Continuous Insulin Infusion and Total Parenteral Nutrition
An infant newly diagnosed with propionic acidemic coma was managed successfully with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and continuous infusion of insulin. The urinary excretion of 3-hydroxypropionic…
Inhibition of prostanoid formation in intact cells by 2,5‐di‐(tert‐butyl)‐1,4‐benzohydroquinone, a blocker of Ca2+‐ATPases
- H. Leis, D. Zach, E. Huber, L. Ziermann, H. Gleispach, W. Windischhofer
- Biology, MedicineBritish journal of pharmacology
- 1 February 1996
The results suggest a direct inhibitory action of BHQ on the cyclo‐oxygenase in these three cell systems.
Determination of etheral oils from the urine by gas-liquid chromatography
SummaryA method for the determination of eucalyptole, camphor and menthol by gas liquid chromatography is presented. These three etheral oils are excreted in the urine as glucuronides. For…
Preparation of 18O-labelled standards of hydroxy-eicosatetraenoic acids and thromboxanes for quantitative measurement by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
- H. Leis, E. Malle, H. Gleispach
- ChemistryBiomedical & environmental mass spectrometry
- 1 September 1986
A study on the extent of 18O incorporation into various hydroxy-eicosatetraenoic acids, thromboxane B2 and 2,3-dinor-thromboxane B2 by base-catalysed hydrolysis of their methyl ester derivatives is…
