DNA fingerprinting of Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis
Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis of genomic DNA was carried out on Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains from different geographic locations to determine its value in an epidemiological survey of O157 infections, showing that for a single highly conserved clone, such as E. coli O 157:H 7, other typing techniques may need to be performed in addition to DNA fingerprinting in epidemiological surveys.

Serological tests and DNA analysis performed by restriction endonuclease digestion of B-subunit toxin genes revealed that all 17 isolates produced Shiga-like toxin II, and a high frequency of sorbitol-fermenting E. coli O157 strains was established in the patients examined.
Tyrosinase involved in betalain biosynthesis of higher plants
It is proposed that this tyrosinase is specifically involved in the betalain biosynthesis of higher plants.

Plasmid content and the presence of Shiga-like toxin-converting phages were determined for the SF E. coli O157:H- strains, indicating that these strainsbors a single 90-kb plasmid and are lysogenized by toxin- Converting phage and harbor the eae gene.
Visual and Acoustic Course Control in the Cricket Gryllus Bimaculatus
T he influence of visual and acoustic stimuli on course control was studied in crickets walking on an air-supported sphere under open-loop conditions. The speed of walking elicited by a calling song…
Brain Neurones Involved in the Control of Walking in the Cricket Gryllus Bimaculatus
The responses of single brain neurones to artificial calling song, to moving striped patterns and to air puffs were recorded while tethered crickets were walking on a sphere in such a way that their…
Betaxanthin pattern of hairy roots from Beta vulgaris var. lutea and its alteration by feeding of amino acids
Flavonols and an indole alkaloid skeleton bearing identical acylated glycosidic groups from yellow petals of Papaver nudicaule.
[Flavonols, flavone and anthocyanins as natural antioxidants of food and their possible role in the prevention of chronic diseases].
This review summarizes the current knowledge on the occurrence, intake, bioavailability, and antioxidative properties of flavonols, flavones, and anthocyanins as well as the associations between flavonol intake and disease risks.
Flavonoid concentrations in the inner leaves of head lettuce genotypes
Abstract. Typical HPLC profiles of phenolics from head lettuce (butter lettuce) genotypes showed quercetin (Qu) compounds Qu 3-O-glucuronide, Qu 3-O-(6-malonylglucoside), an acidic luteolin (Lu)…
