Nucleosynthetic signatures of the first stars
The discovery of HE1327–2326 is reported, a subgiant or main-sequence star with an iron abundance about a factor of two lower than that of HE0107–5240, suggesting a similar origin of the abundance patterns.
Current Performance and On-Going Improvements of the 8.2 m Subaru Telescope
An overview of the current status of the 8.2m Subaru Telescope constructed and operated at Mauna Kea, Hawaii, by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan is presented. The basic design concept
The Discovery of Two Lyman α Emitters beyond Redshift 6 in the Subaru Deep Field
We performed a deep optical imaging survey using a narrow-band filter (NB921) centered at λ=9196 u A together
A Subaru/High Dispersion Spectrograph Study of Lead (Pb) Abundances in Eight s-Process Element-rich, Metal-poor Stars
We report the abundances of neutron-capture elements in eight carbon-rich, metal-poor ( 2:7 ½ Fe=H 1:9) stars observed with the Subaru Telescope High Dispersion Spectrograph. The derived
Planetary Companions around Three Intermediate-Mass G and K Giants: 18 Delphini, ξ Aquilae, and HD 81688
We report on the detection of 3 new extrasolar planets from a precise Doppler survey of G and K giants at Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. The host stars, 18 Del (G6 III), Aql (K0 III) and HD
A Planetary Companion to the Hyades Giant ∊ Tauri
Wereportthedetection of anextrasolarplanet orbitingTau,oneof thegiantstarsintheHyadesopencluster. This is the first planet ever discovered in an open cluster. Precise Doppler measurements of this star
Spiral Structure in the Circumstellar Disk around AB Aurigae
We present a near-infrared image of the Herbig Ae star AB Aur obtained with the Coronagraphic Imager with Adaptive Optics mounted on the Subaru Telescope. The image shows a circumstellar emission
