Teheran's wild city pigeons were tested for Q-fever antibodies. 12 out of 152 sera showed a positive reaction.
The author examined 2,448 human and 541 domestic animal sera from Iran serologically for leptospira antibodies. In Teheran, wild town pigeons were investigated for ornithosis showing a contamination rate of 46%.
In Teheran, children's sera were tested for Listeria antibodies. In the agglutination a complement fixation tests a positivity of 1-11% was found against the different serotypes.
In an epidemiological study for toxoplasmosis in 2 hospitals in Iran 91.5% of samples were positive in the Immunofluorescent Test. In the Complement Fixation Test carried out simultaneously 6.5% reacted positive.
544 human blood samples from 2 hospitals in Teheran, Iran, were tested for HIV-virus antibodies. 35 samples were positive in 2 different ELISA tests; however, these samples were negative in the Western Blot test. Further studies are underway.
