The p53 wild-type protein plays an important role in cells as is shown by its fine regulation at different levels. Since its discovery, numerous mutations have been described. In breast cancers, p53 is mutated in almost 30% of cases, with a higher frequency in some tumor subtypes. TP53 mutation is reported to be a factor for good prognosis in some studies,… (More)
Non-thermal plasmas are gaseous mixtures of molecules, radicals, and excited species with a small proportion of ions and energetic electrons. Non-thermal plasmas can be generated with any high electro-magnetic field. We studied here the pathological effects, and in particular cell death, induced by nanosecond-pulsed high voltage generated plasmas… (More)
A localized left breast ductal invasive triple-negative breast carcinoma (TNBC) was diagnosed in a 44-year-old woman. After surgery, she was treated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy in accordance with national guidelines. At the end of treatment, she had local and metastatic relapse with multiple sub-diaphragmatic lymph nodes.
In 2011 abiraterone acetate (AA) was approved for the treatment of castrate-resistant metastatic prostate cancer patients who have failed docetaxel chemotherapy. We report the case of a patient who experienced a confirmed PSA decrease of ≤50% after stopping AA, mimicking an antiandrogen withdrawal syndrome.
most types of cancers, and particularly in metastatic renal cell carcinoma, with several drugs currently approved for daily clinical practice. However, secondary resistance to this family of drugs is constantly observed, and the mechanisms of resistance remain poorly understood in patients. Recently, we demonstrated that sunitinib, a tyrosine kinase… (More)
BACKGROUND Skin squamous-cell-carcinoma (SCC), is the main complication in long-term kidney-transplant recipients, and it can include donor-derived cells. Preclinical models demonstrated the involvement of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) in the progression of skin SCC, and the role of Snail, an EMT transcription factor, in cancer stem-cell survival… (More)
UNLABELLED Phase II, open-label study assessing the efficacy and safety of the ErbB family blocker afatinib combined with letrozole in estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients who had progressed on letrozole monotherapy. Adult females (N = 28) received oral afatinib (50 [n = 7], 40 [n = 13] or 30 [n = 8] mg/day) plus letrozole 2.5… (More)
Angiogenesis is hallmark of clear cell renal cell carcinogenesis. Anti-angiogenic therapies have been successful in improving disease outcome; however, most patients treated with anti-angiogenic agents will eventually progress. In this study we report that clear cell renal cell carcinoma was associated with vasculogenic mimicry in both mice and human with… (More)
Renal Cell Carcinomas (RCCs) are heterogeneous tumors with late acquisition of TP53 abnormalities during their evolution. They harbor TP53 abnormalities in their metastases. We aimed to study TP53 gene alterations in tissue samples from primary and metastatic RCCs in 36 patients followed up over a median of 4.2 years, and in xenografted issued from primary… (More)
