An earth model is used in a collaborative environment in which some members provide information for its construction and others utilize the result. Validating an earth model by simulating a migration image is an important step. However, the high computational cost of generating 3D synthetic data, followed by the process of migration, limits the number of… (More)
In geophysical exploration different types of measurements are used to probe the same subsurface region. In this paper we show that the wavelet transform can aid the process of linking different data types. The continuous wavelet transform, and in particular the analysis of amplitudes along wavelet transform modulus maxima lines, is a powerful tool to… (More)
SUMMARY Validating an earth model by simulating a migration image is an important step in a shared earth environment. However, the high computational cost of generating 3D synthetic data, followed by the process of migration, limits the number of scenarios that can be validated. To overcome this computational cost, a novel strategy is used where a migration… (More)
A new method is presented which combines a forward and an image operator (resolution function) to construct a simulated migrated seismic section from a geological depth model. To efficiently use this tool during seismic interpretation, a fast implementation is necessary. This is achieved by improving the performance of the serial algorithm.
