Using the microlymphocytotoxicity test of Terasaki, HLA--A, B, Cw antigen typing was done for 37 antigens in 28 children with steroid-sensitive nephrosis and five children with steroid-resistant nephrosis. Evaluation was made by the chi 2 test as corrected by the method of Yeates. In steroid-sensitive nephrosis the frequency of HLA--B 8 antigen was 33.3%(More)
Objective: The pharmacokinetics of the long-acting β2-agonist formoterol fumarate, which is a racemate of the (S,S)- and (R,R)-enantiomers were evaluated in 12 healthy (eight male, four female) volunteers after a single inhaled high dose of 120 μg of formoterol fumarate. The tolerability and safety were also assessed. Methods: Each volunteer inhaled the(More)
From 1971 to 1982, 35 children with a depressed skull fracture (d.s.f.) were observed. Their data are used to trace specific aspects of aetiopathogenesis, characteristics, clinical picture, treatment and prognosis of d.s.f. in childhood and to propose guidelines for treatment and follow-ups. The most important causes were falls and road accidents. Celluloid(More)
Single oral doses of 10 mg converting enzyme inhibitor benazepril (CGS 14824A) and 40 mg furosemide were administered to 12 healthy male volunteers either separately or concomitantly. The pharmacokinetic parameters of benazepril were not influenced by coadministration of furosemide. Urinary excretion of total furosemide was significantly reduced by 10 to(More)

Analysis of 102 children ventriculo-vascular shunted in infancy from 1958-71 reveals the existence of an arrested shunt-independent hydrocephalus (a.s.h.). 13 suspected cases have been selected by routine examinations and by the so-called retrospective longitudinal examination. The diagnosis of arrested shunt-independent hydrocephalus was made in 7 and(More)
Endocrinological findings were identified in 60% of 90 shunted patients with an isolated hydrocephalus, namely dwarfism in one third and abnormal proportions, obesity, sexual precocity and various combinations in 9-15%. Different causes of these findings were observed. But none of the cases had a malfunction of the shunt at the time of this study.
PURPOSE This randomized, multicenter, dose-finding study was undertaken to determine the dose of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) that can safely reduce neutropenia after cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and etoposide (CAVP-16) chemotherapy in patients with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Secondary clinical end(More)
Twenty-four children (aged 3 months to 14 years) with severe head injuries were treated by means of invasive neurointensive care for normalizing intracranial pressure (ICP) involving hyperventilation, control of body temperature, dexamethasone, barbiturates and continuous intracranial and arterial pressure monitoring. The Glasgow Coma Scale before(More)
The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of a single oral dose benazepril·HCl 10 mg have been studied in 15 healthy volunteers aged 65 to 80 y. The kinetics of unchanged benazepril and its active metabolite benazeprilat did not differ significantly in males and females, so the combined kinetic data from all 15 elderly subjects were compared with a(More)
