Automatically generated summaries of TV content are indispensable for content selection and navigation in CE-devices. We show two different types of summaries: Short video trailers and visual overviews consisting of representative frames. The demo does not only show the feasibility of the proposed algorithms, but also shows how different types of generated… (More)
In this paper, a novel multi-target design methodology based on the concepts of transformational design, and its application to the interlaced-to-progressive scan conversion (IPSC) problem, are discussed. Starting from a single high-level behavioral specification in VHDL a direction detector used in IPSC algorithms is mapped onto both a custom… (More)
The proliferation of multimedia information sources and the availability of large capacity consumer storage devices, raise the need to present video in compact forms so that users can effectively access interesting parts to watch. Aiming at an implementation in consumer electronics products and targeting to non-IT-expert users, an innovative user-friendly… (More)
Achieving correct designs is quickly becoming the bottleneck in the design of complex digital systems. In this paper we discuss our experience with developing and implementing a novel transformation-based design methodology for the design of guaranteed correct synchronous digital systems. By applying user-selected behavior-preserving transformation steps… (More)
In this paper a model is presented that allows translation of close to full VHDL (excluding time constructs) to a control-data flow graph. The syntax based translation leaves the VHDL execution mechanism in the graph. Behavior preserving transformations are used to remove the execution mechanism.
In this paper, a novel multi-target design methodology based on the concepts of transformational design, and its application to the interlaced-to-progressive scan conversion (IPSC) problem, are discussed. Current high-level synthesis methodologies are restricted to a relatively fixed application domain and target architecture. This approach is too limited… (More)
The convergence era has begun raising the need for intelligent assistance in the large amount of multimedia content already available in the home environment. In this paper we present a Personal Video Recorder that exploits meta-data obtained from a service provider or locally generated, to provide users with profile-based filtering and innovative… (More)
