Immunoelectron microscopy was performed on live, cultured early postnatal mouse cerebellar cells to identify and ultrastructurally characterize those cells which express nervous system antigen-1 (NS-1) and beta-D-galactocerebroside (GalCer) on their surfaces. These two antigens are expressed on oligodendroglia with similar ultrastructural features. These… (More)
A mult-channel system for continuous bedside monitoring of glucose, pH pCO2 and automatic computer-controlled infusion of insulin, glucose, potassium, and bicarbonate solutions is described. Regulatory algorithms are presented for correction of metabolic acidosis and hyperglycemia with and without acidosis.

In 8 subjects, the oral protein supply is modified in periods of 3 days each. With increasing protein intake, a decrease of the serum uric acid levels results as well as a significant increase in uric acid excretion and uric acid clearance. On the basis of the data obtained, it may be assumed that protein has a uricosuric action.
