Migrating birds at Ottenby Sweden as carriers of ticks and possible transmitters of tick-borne encephalitis virus1?
Investigations of birds trapped at the Ottenby Bird Station on the island of eland in the Baltic Sea demonstrated that ticks are carried by numerous bird species, particularly Passeriformes. The

The relationship of the strains to other viruses of the RSSE-LI group was shown in neutralization tests in mice and in tissue culture and four of the five strains recovered in mice could also be isolated in cultures of Detroit-6 cells.
Neutralization of Aggregated Strains of Enterovirus 71 and Echovirus Type 4 in RD and Vero or GMK‐AH1 Cells
Strains of enterovirus 71 and echovirus type 4 containing aggregates which were poorly neutralized by antibody in cell lines of green monkey kidney origin such as Vero and GMK‐AH1, were as easily
Growth of viruses of the Russian Spring-Summer louping-ill group in tissue culture
Out of the continuous cell lines the Detroit 6 strain proved to be superior, showing a marked and reproducible cytopathic effect and a high yield of infectious virus and CF antigen and was approximately as sensitive as mice to minimal doses of the virus.

A study of the association of Echo viruses to aseptic meningitis
Results suggest an etiological relationship of ECHO-6 virus to the syndrome of aseptic meningitis in those patients from whom this virus was isolated, and this concept is further supported by the similar findings in other laboratories.
Small Mammals in Sweden as Hosts of Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus and Vagrant Ectoparasites
Animals from the endemic areas were infested to a higher degree with ticks and fleas than animals from the low infectious area, and the recognized vector of the western type of TBE virus, Ixodes ricinus, was recorded.
Tick-borne meningoencephalomyelitis in Sweden
Out of 176 patients, hospitalized in Stockholm during the summer and fall of 1956, not less than 68 had antibodies against viruses of the Russian spring-summer/ louping ill group, and during convalescence 30 of these cases showed a definite rise in antibody titer.
Infections with Poliovirus Types 2 and 3 in Day Nurseries and an Orphanage
In the fall of 1955, when the incidence of poliomyelitis was low in Stockholm, two institutional outbreaks of polioviras infections were studied and it was found that 7 of 10 siblings and 10 of 47 adults were virus‐positive.
