Length-weight relationship and condition factor of Ilisha melastoma (Clupeiformes: Pristigasteridae) off Pakistan.
The length-weight relationship and condition factor for Ilisha melastoma (Bloch and Schneider, 1801) is described from samples collected between March 2004 and March 2005 and found to be highly significant.
Seasonal variability of phytoplankton in a coastal lagoon and adjacent open sea in Pakistan
Elevated primary productivity in the Miani Hor Lagoon and adjacent open sea off Pakistan was found during the south-west monsoon (May-September) and spring inter-monsoon (March-April), with the lowest phytoplankton abundance recorded in the north-east monsoon period at both collection sites.
Oyster species of the sub tropical coast of Pakistan (northern Arabian Sea)
9 species of oysters belonging to three genera (Crassostrea, Saccostrea and Ostrea) were identified on the basis of their conchological and malacological features and were assigned to a single species C. gryphoides.
Extraction and Screening of Bioactive Compounds with Antimicrobial Properties from Selected Species of Mollusk and Crustacean
The overall aim of this study is to gather preliminary information about the antimicrobial activity of invertebrates from Manora channel for potential use in the development of new antibiotics.
Biochemical composition of the hemolymph, hepatopancreas, ovary, and muscle during ovarian maturation in the penaeid shrimps Fenneropenaeus merguiensis and F. penicillatus (Crustacea: Decapoda)
The increase in the protein, carbohydrate, and lipid contents in the ovaries during maturation indicates that the Ovaries utilize these constituents to mature, and the hemolymph serves as a vehicle for the mobilization of organic reserves.

The intertidal oribatid mite Fortuynia longisetaPfingstl, 2015, is reported for the first time from the coast of Pakistan, extending its known northern distribution limit in the Indian Ocean.…
Occurrence and temporal variation in the size-frequency distribution of 2 bloom-forming jellyfishes, Catostylus perezi (L. Agassiz, 1862) and Rhizostoma pulmo (Cuvier, 1800), in the Indus Delta along…
No significant difference in physical oceanographic factors such as salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and suspended load of the sampling site was found, except for water temperature, while the numeric abundance of medusae in zooplankton was also studied.
Fatty acid composition of two candidate species of aquaculture, Fenneropenaeus merguiensis and F. penicillatus (Crustacea: Decapoda) in Pakistan.
Fatty acid composition was determined in two candidate aquaculture species Fenneropenaeus merguiensis and F. penicillatus sampled from Karachi, Pakistan and no significant differences were observed in the contents of total saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids among two species.
Feeding ecology and stomach content analysis of the kingsoldier bream, Argyrops spinifer (Forsskal 1775) (Perciformes: Sparidae) from the offshore waters (Northern Arabian Sea) of Pakistan.
This study presents a probabilistic approach to assess the phytochemical properties of planktonic strata of the seabed and its importance as a source of infectious disease for fisheries and marine mammals.
Sex-ratio, maturation and spawning of the Indian ilisha, ilisha melastoma (clupeiformes: pristigasteridae) in coastal waters of Pakistan (northern Arabian Sea)
Present study showed that the over-all sex-ratio deviated in favour of females in Ilisha melastoma. However, the sexratio was approximately 1:1 in certain months while in others it was in favor of…
