Quantitative analysis of macrobenthic soft-bottom assemblages in South Shetland waters (Antarctica)
The role of the epi-infauna sensu Gallardo as the main factor structuring benthic assemblages in the investigated area is discussed and significant correlations were detected between macrobenthic biomass and any sediment parameters measured.
Description of five new species of Exogoninae Rioja, 1925 (Polychaeta: Syllidae) associated with the stony coral Mussismilia hispida (Verrill, 1868) in Saõ Paulo State, Brazil
Analysis of the syllids associated with these coral heads led to the identification of three new species of Sphaerosyllis: S. isabellae, S. brasiliensis and S. mussismiliaicola, and two of Grubeosyllis, descriptions of which are here presented.
Systematics and evolution of syllids (Annelida, Syllidae)
The classification of the whole family is revised and discussed on the basis of this phylogenetic hypothesis, and the nature of the stolon is phylogenetically informative within Syllinae.
Inter-population variability and character description in the sponge-associated Haplosyllis spongicola complex (Polychaeta: Syllidae)
- Daniel Martin, T. Britayev, G. San Martín, J. Gil
- Biology, Environmental ScienceHydrobiologia
- 1 April 2003
The existence of a pseudo-sibling species-complex within the so-called cosmopolitan H. spongicolahas has been revealed and the most relevant characters that will allow a future identification of the species involved in the complex are fully described, illustrated and analysed.
A new genus of Syllidae (Polychaeta) from Western Australia
During a study carried out on the subfamily Exogoninae (Syllidae) from Australia, several specimens of a new genus and species were found in samples of dead coral substrate, and they have long palps, fused except for a terminal notch, long median and two short lateral antennae, and short dorsal cirri, and all these appendages are articulated.
“Errant” polychaetes of the Livingston Island shelf (South Shetlands, Antarctica), with the description of a new species
The taxonomic results of the examination of the “errant” families of the polychaetes collected during the Spanish cruise “Bentart 94” are presented, and a new species is described.
Syllidae (Annelida: Polychaeta: Phyllodocida) from the Chausey Archipelago (English Channel, France), with a description of two new species of the Exogoninae Prosphaerosyllis
- F. Olivier, C. Grant, G. San Martín, P. Archambault, C. McKindsey
- BiologyMarine Biodiversity
- 1 March 2012
One species was reported for the first time in the north-east Atlantic and six were new for both France and the English Channel, including two new species, which are described herein.
New symbiotic association in marine annelids: ectoparasites of comb jellies
A new genus of ectoparasitic marine annelids living on ctenophores, Ctenophoricola gen. nov., is described and its feeding behaviour, reproduction and developmental stages are discussed. Its…
Syllidae (Annelida) from the Boreal and sub-Arctic seas off Norway (North Sea, Norwegian Sea, Barents Sea)

- 27 February 2017
A collection of more than 1500 specimens of Syllidae from sub-Arctic and Boreal regions along the coast of Norway has been studied and 32 species, two of them new to science, belonging to the genera Sphaerosyllis Claparède, 1863 and Syllis Savigny in Lamarck, 1818 are reported.
Guide and keys for the identification of Syllidae (Annelida, Phyllodocida) from the British Isles (reported and expected species)
This paper provides the revised keys to enable rapid identification of Syllidae from the seas around Britain and Ireland, and proposes a new combination, Palposyllis propeweismanni, which is proposed.
