Multiple Mechanisms of Iron-Induced Amyloid Beta-Peptide Accumulation in SHSY5Y Cells: Protective Action of Negletein
- P. Banerjee, Arghyadip Sahoo, S. Chakrabarti
- BiologyNeuromolecular medicine
- 24 September 2014
Exogenously added iron in the form of ferric ammonium citrate leads to considerable accumulation of amyloid precursor protein (APP) without a corresponding change in the concerned gene expression in cultured SHSY5Y cells during exposure up to 48 h, providing the initial evidence of potential therapeutic effects of negletein.
Improved Procedure for the Reduction of Esters to Alcohols by Sodium Borohydride
- A. Bianco, P. Passacantilli, G. Righi
- Chemistry
- 1 October 1988
Abstract An improved procedure for the employment of NaBH4 in the reduction of ester function is described.
Synthesis of potential HIV integrase inhibitors inspired by natural polyphenol structures
- G. Righi, Romina Pelagalli, P. Bovicelli
- Chemistry, BiologyNatural Product Research
- 1 August 2018
Abstract Drawing inspiration from the structural features of some natural polyphenols, the synthesis of two different model compounds as potential inhibitors of HIV integrase (IN) has been described.…

A novel and efficient synthesis of pyrogallol moiety through a copper(I)-mediated C–O bond forming reaction is described. In particular, syntheses of 3,4,5-trihydroxyphenethyl alcohol and its methyl…
H2 Dissociation on Noble Metal Single Atom Catalysts Adsorbed on and Doped into CeO2 (111)
- G. Righi, R. Magri, A. Selloni
- ChemistryJournal of Physical Chemistry C
- 28 March 2019
We used density functional theory (DFT) calculations to investigate the dissociation of H2 on an Ag single atom catalyst adsorbed on the pristine CeO2 (111) surface (Ag/CeO2), or substituting a sur...
New chiral amino alcohol ligands for catalytic enantioselective addition of diethylzincs to aldehydes.
- C. Sappino, A. Mari, G. Righi
- ChemistryOrganic and biomolecular chemistry
- 14 March 2018
Both optimized homogeneous amino alcohol catalysts 13a and 13b exhibited excellent catalytic activity as demonstrated by the chemical yields and ee obtained from all the tested aldehydes, almost independent of the position and type of substitution in the aromatic ring.
Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles as Catalysts for Enantioselective Henry Reaction
- C. Sappino, Ludovica Primitivo, G. Righi
- ChemistryACS Omega
- 9 December 2019
The results prove that highly efficient catalysts, by being immobilized on suitable magnetic nanosupports, can be easily recovered and reused, maintaining their catalytic behavior.
Regio- and Chemoselective Synthesis of Halohydrins by Cleavage of Oxiranes with Metal Halides
Recent developments in the regio-, chemo- and stereoselective oxirane cleavage by new halogenating reagents allow obtention of various vicinal halohydrins. Also, epoxy alcohols and other…
