New fibrin conduit for peripheral nerve repair.
- D. Kalbermatten, J. Pettersson, P. Kingham, G. Pierer, M. Wiberg, G. Terenghi
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of reconstructive microsurgery
- 2009
The use of fibrin glue as a conduit is a step toward a usable graft to bridge peripheral nerve lesions and might be clinically interesting, given the widespread acceptance of fibin glue among the surgical community.

Can ASA grade or Goldman's cardiac risk index predict peri‐operative mortality? A study of 16 227 patients
- G. Prause, B. Ratzenhofer-Comenda, G. Pierer, F. Smolle‐Ju¨ttner, H. Glanzer, J. Smolle
- MedicineAnaesthesia
- 1 March 1997
For this large number of patients peri‐operative mortality can be predicted with the ASA grade and, to a lesser degree, with the cardiac risk index, and the combination of the two scores can increase the accuracy of prediction of peri-operative mortality.
Cell yield, proliferation, and postexpansion differentiation capacity of human ear, nasal, and rib chondrocytes.
- A. Tay, J. Farhadi, R. Suetterlin, G. Pierer, M. Heberer, I. Martin
- Medicine, BiologyTissue engineering
- 25 August 2004
Ear and nasal chondrocytes, if expanded with TFP, display superior postexpansion chondrogenic potential and may be a preferred cell source for cartilage tissue engineering.

VACUUM-ASSISTED WOUND CLOSURE FOR CHEAPER AND MORE COMFORTABLE HEALING OF PRESSURE SORES: A PROSPECTIVE STUDY
- M. Wanner, F. Schwarzl, B. Strub, G. A. Zaech, G. Pierer
- MedicineScandinavian Journal of Plastic and…
- 1 January 2003
The two methods were equally effective in forming granulation tissue, so one can profit from the other advantages of the vacuum-assisted treatment (reduced costs and improved comfort) knowing that the effect on the formation ofgranulation tissue is as good as with the traditional treatment.
Sonication of Removed Breast Implants for Improved Detection of Subclinical Infection
- U. Rieger, G. Pierer, N. Lüscher, A. Trampuz
- MedicineAesthetic Plastic Surgery
- 26 March 2009
Sonication of removed implants may improve the diagnosis of implant infection by detachment of biofilms from the implant surface by detecting bacteria in 41% of removed breast implants.
Retrograde arterialized venous flap: An experimental study
- H. Moshammer, F. Schwarzl, H. Koch
- Medicine, EngineeringMicrosurgery
- 2003
It is indicated that blood circulation in the periphery of arterialized venous flaps can be enhanced by retrograde arterialization.
