Caphosol®, a neutral, supersaturated, Ca2+/PO43− mouth rinse, used in combination with topical fluoride treatments, is superior to fluoride rinse alone in reducing the frequency, intensity and duration of oral mucositis in patients undergoing HSCT.
Effects of growth factors and cytokines on osteoblast differentiation.
- F. Hughes, W. Turner, G. Belibasakis, G. Martuscelli
- Biology, MedicinePeriodontology
- 1 June 2006
The nature of the osteoblast phenotype, its lineage and the genetic regulation of osteobnight differentiation and function are described, and the role of a range of cytokines and growth factors in regulating osteooblast differentiation andfunction is discussed.
Deproteinized bovine bone and biodegradable barrier membranes to support healing following immediate placement of transmucosal implants: a short-term controlled clinical trial.
- R. Cornelini, F. Cangini, G. Martuscelli, J. Wennström
- MedicineThe international journal of periodontics…
- 1 December 2004
The use of deproteinized bovine bone mineral as a membrane support at immediately placed transmucosal implants may offer an advantage in areas with high esthetic demands in terms of soft tissue support.
Polypeptide growth factors for periodontal regeneration.
- T. H. Howell, G. Martuscelli, J. Oringer
- Biology, MedicineCurrent opinion in periodontology
- 1996
Human clinical trials will be required to identify the ideal growth factors, their proper doses, and the most suitable carrier system for them, as well as to verify that growth factors can enhance regeneration in vivo following periodontal disease and as an adjunct to implant placement.

These toothpastes appeared to have similar effects on the colour and texture of the enamel of the front teeth as well as on the inside of the mouth using the same formula.
Long-term evaluation of osseointegrated implants in regenerated and nonregenerated bone.
- Giuseppe Corrente, R. Abundo, D. Cardaropoli, G. Cardaropoli, G. Martuscelli
- Medicine, Materials ScienceThe international journal of periodontics…

Preliminary results suggest that implants placed with simultaneous bone regeneration procedures achieve long-term predictability that is comparable to that of implants placed in an adequate volume of bone, provided that complete bone fill of the periimplant defect is achieved.
The effect of interleukin-11 on the progression of ligature-induced periodontal disease in the beagle dog.
- G. Martuscelli, J. Fiorellini, C. Crohin, T. H. Howell
- Medicine, BiologyThe Journal of Periodontology
- 1 April 2000
The study indicates that subcutaneous injections of rhIL-11 were able to slow the progression of attachment and radiographic alveolar bone loss in a ligature-induced beagle dog model.
Enantiospecific inhibition of ligature-induced periodontitis in beagles with topical (S)-ketoprofen.
- D. Paquette, J. Fiorellini, R. Williams
- MedicineJournal of Clinical Periodontology
- 1 August 1997
Evidence is provided that enantiospecific therapy with (S)-ketoprofen, topically or systemically delivered, may alter the progression of periodontal disease in the beagle dog model.
The use of replicate resin models in the treatment of maxillary sinus augmentation patients.
- S. Bianchi, A. Lojacono, J. Fiorellini
- MedicineThe international journal of periodontics…
- 1 August 1997
The elevation of the floor of the maxillary sinus is becoming a routine surgical procedure to develop the site for dental implants, and computer tomographic scans provide valuable information, especially when defining the location and extension of septae transversing the sinus.
