Sleep Bruxism is a Disorder Related to Periodic Arousals During Sleep
- G. Macaluso, P. Guerra, G. Di Giovanni, M. Boselli, L. Parrino, M. Terzano
- Biology, PsychologyJournal of dentistry research
- 1 April 1998
The framework of the cyclic alternating pattern offers a unified interpretation for sleep bruxism and arousal-related phenomena.
Osteocytes and WNT: the Mechanical Control of Bone Formation
- C. Galli, G. Passeri, G. Macaluso
- Biology, EngineeringJournal of dentistry research
- 3 March 2010
Mutations of Sost have dramatic effects on the skeleton, indicating that osteocytes may act as master regulators of bone formation and localized bone remodeling, and the development of sclerostin inhibitors is opening new possibilities for bone regeneration in orthopedics and the dental field.
The effects of Er:YAG laser treatment on titanium surface profile and osteoblastic cell activity: an in vitro study.
- C. Galli, G. Macaluso, G. Passeri
- Medicine, Materials ScienceThe Journal of Periodontology
- 1 August 2011
Results indicate that Er:YAG laser at energy levels used in this study can alter the surface profile of titanium implants and these changes may negatively affect the viability and the activity of osteoblastic cells.
Heteronymous H-reflex in Temporal Muscle Motor Units
- G. Macaluso, G. Pavesi, A. De Laat
- BiologyJournal of dentistry research
- 1 December 1998
Analysis of the firing probability changes of single motor units indicates that some temporal muscle motor units are modulated by afferents from the masseter muscle, the heteronymous H-reflex has a monosynaptic component, and there might be a more complex than just monosyneaptic organization serving the heteronym temporal H- Reflex.
Immediate provisional restoration of postextraction implants for maxillary single-tooth replacement.
- A. Ferrara, C. Galli, G. Mauro, G. Macaluso
- MedicineThe international journal of periodontics…
- 1 August 2006
A protocol of immediate loading of single implants placed at the time of tooth extraction in a consecutive case series was tested and overall patient satisfaction and clinical and radiographic parameters were good.
Comparison of human mandibular osteoblasts grown on two commercially available titanium implant surfaces.
- C. Galli, S. Guizzardi, G. Macaluso
- Medicine, Materials ScienceThe Journal of Periodontology
- 1 March 2005
Although cells grown on both surfaces exhibited good adhesion capabilities, a well-differentiated osteoblastic phenotype, and maintained a clear proliferation potential, this study suggests that plasma-sprayed treatment offers a better performance than SLA by creating, at least in the early phases, better conditions for tissue healing.
The perceived impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on dental undergraduate students in the Italian region of Emilia‐Romagna
- L. Generali, C. Iani, G. Macaluso, L. Montebugnoli, G. Siciliani, U. Consolo
- MedicineEuropean journal of dental education
- 2 December 2020
The results of this survey could be used to train students to a correct risk assessment and may guide Universities in trying to reduce students' anxiety by means of correct communication strategies.
“Over-inlay” block graft and differential morphometry: a novel block graft model to study bone regeneration and host-to-graft interfaces in rats
- G. Ghiacci, G. Graiani, R. Sala
- Medicine, BiologyJournal of Periodontal & Implant Science
- 1 August 2016
The present model allowed for a standardized investigation of distinct graft-to-host interfaces both at vertically augmented and inlay-augmented sites, thus possibly limiting the number of animals required for pre-clinical investigations.
Topical review: placebo responses and therapeutic responses. How are they related?
- C. Greene, G. Goddard, G. Macaluso, G. Mauro
- Psychology, MedicineJournal of Orofacial Pain
- 2009
The major finding from this review was that concepts about placebo effects and responses have changed dramatically over the years, especially in more recent years, as a result of more sophisticated experimental protocols using placebos in clinical studies of patients in pain, as well as various studies involving normal subjects.
GSK3b-inhibitor lithium chloride enhances activation of Wnt canonical signaling and osteoblast differentiation on hydrophilic titanium surfaces.
- C. Galli, M. Piemontese, S. Lumetti, E. Manfredi, G. Macaluso, G. Passeri
- Biology, MedicineClinical Oral Implants Research
- 1 August 2013
Stimulation of the canonical Wnt pathway promoted osteoblast differentiation on hydrophilic modSLA surfaces and demonstrates that Wnt activators such as LiCl should be further tested as a possible approach to improve implant osseointegration.
