The tick fauna on domestic and livestock animals in two areas endemic for I. ricinus and D. reticulatus is determined and the risk of infestation with different tick species in open and forest areas is compared.

Zoonotic genetic variants of A. phagocytophilum are widely distributed in the Polish tick population, and although the diversity of tick borne pathogens was higher in natural habitats, zoonotic species/strains were detected only in urban forests.

The suburban woods of Warsaw and rural forests in Warsaw County characterized the highest prevalence levels of dual infection with investigated tick-borne pathogens, whereas the lowest co-infection rates were recorded in tick populations inhabiting rural forests and forested areas in Korczew-Mogielnica (within the Nadbużański Landscape Park).

The main goal of this study was to determine the prevalence of Anaplasma phagocytophilum infections in wild cervids living in north-eastern part of Poland and to find the lowest rate of infection was found in fallow deer (Dama dama) - ony 1.5 percent.

It has been demonstrated that the prevalence of co-infection status was the highest among females of I. ricinus (11 samples, 3.8%), whereas the lowest within tested nymphs (5 samples, 0.9%).
