Growth and yield of two chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) varieties in Canterbury, New Zealand
- B. Mckenzie, G. Hill
- Biology
- 1 December 1995
Growth and yield of chickpeas was examined over two growing seasons in Canterbury, New Zealand and response to sowing date suggests that spring sowings will be the highest yielding.
Light interception and utilization of four grain legumes sown at different plant populations and depths
- S. Ayaz, B. Mckenzie, D. McNeil, G. Hill
- BiologyJournal of Agricultural Sciences
- 1 June 2004
The results suggest that in the subhumid temperate environment of Canterbury, grain legume species should be selected for the development of a large green area index (GAI), which should maximize PAR interception, DM production and, consequently, seed yield.
Inheritance of resistance to Ascochyta blight in lentil
Inheritance of foliar resistance to Ascochyta blight in lentil was studied using four resistant and one susceptible cultivars and found that Indian head is under control of two recessive genes with additive effects.
Variability in yield of four grain legume species in a subhumid temperate environment. II. Yield components
- S. Ayaz, B. Mckenzie, G. Hill, D. McNeil
- BiologyJournal of Agricultural Sciences
- 1 February 2004
There was a nearly six-fold reduction in the number of branches/plant as plant population increased, which was due to restricted branching, and not to branch senescence, and generally the variation in yield components was species dependent.
α2u-Globulin Nephropathy and Renal Tumors in National Toxicology Program Studies
- A. Doi, G. Hill, J. Seely, J. R. Hailey, G. Kissling, J. Bucher
- MedicineToxicologic pathology (Print)
- 1 June 2007
It is suggested that while α2u-globulin nephropathy may contribute to the renal tumor response, the critical component(s) most closely associated with the development of tumors could not be clearly identified in this review.
Attempts to overcome postfertilization barrier in interspecific crosses of the genus Lens.
- M. Ahmad, A. G. Fautrier, D. McNeil, D. Burritt, G. Hill
- Biology
- 1 December 1995
This paper suggests that the artificial supplement of GA3, hormone is needed after fertilization for the normal growth of the hybrid embryo, possibly as the natural GA3 production is restricted with alien pollinations in cultivated lentils in both F1 and backcross hybrids.
Phenological development of chickpeas (Cicer arietinum) in Canterbury, New Zealand
- T. I. Verghis, B. Mckenzie, G. Hill
- Biology
- 1 September 1999
The relationship between the actual and predicted dates of flowering was highly significant, and data from an independent source fitted the model well, and thermal time gave a better relationship with flowering rate.

The effect of irrigation and sowing date on crop yield and yield components of Kabuli chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) in a cool-temperate subhumid climate
- M. Anwar, B. Mckenzie, G. Hill
- BiologyJournal of Agricultural Sciences
- 1 November 2003
The results suggest that these varieties of Kabuli chickpea have the potential to yield more than 4·5 t/ha of seed in Canterbury.
