Carotid plaque, intima media thickness, cardiovascular risk factors, and prevalent cardiovascular disease in men and women: the British Regional Heart Study.
It is suggested that presence of plaque, rather than the thickness of IMTbif, appears to be the major criterion of high risk of disease, but confirmation of these findings in other populations and in prospective studies is required.
Efficacy and safety of Meriva®, a curcumin-phosphatidylcholine complex, during extended administration in osteoarthritis patients.

Significant improvements of both the clinical and biochemical end points were observed for Meriva compared to the control group, which suggests that Meriva is worth considering for the long-term complementary management of osteoarthritis.

The D-Roms test provides a simple, inexpensive and practical method to identify subjects with a high level of oxidative stress and to demonstrate the effect of treatment, and the compound AR(D) Stenovit is effective in reducing circulating free radicals.
Characterization of symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid plaques using high‐resolution real‐time ultrasonography
The preponderance of echolucent plaques in symptomatic patients with stenosis < 70 per cent supports the hypothesis that this type of plaque is unstable and tends to embolize, in contrast, in patients without symptoms there is preponderances of eChogenic plaques.
Venous Thrombosis from Air Travel: The LONFLIT3 Study
DVT was asymptomatic in 60% of subjects; 85% of DVTs were observed in passengers in non-aisle seats; one dose of LMWH is an important option to consider in high-risk subjects during long-haul flights.
Venous Thromboembolism from Air Travel
The LONFLIT study was planned to evaluate the incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) occurring as a consequence of long flights, and below-knee stockings are beneficial in reducing the occurrence of DVT.
'Real' Epidemiology of Varicose Veins and Chronic Venous Diseases: The San Valentino Vascular Screening Project
Evaluated venous diseases and the role of concomitant/risk factors for varicose veins (VV) or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and the basis for future real, whole population studies to evaluate VV and CVI.
Superficial Thrombophlebitis of the Legs: A Randomized, Controlled, Follow-up Study
There was no significant difference in DVT incidence at 3 months among the treatment groups, but after 3 and 6 months the incidence of STP extension was higher in the elastic compression and in the saphenous ligation groups (p < 0.05).
Measurement of the ultrasonic intima-media complex thickness in normal subjects.
Ultrasound morphology classification of the arterial wall and cardiovascular events in a 6-year follow-up study.

The ultrasound-based arterial classification was useful in selecting from the population sample 80.05% of subjects (class I) who remained event-free for 6 years, and all events occurred in class II, III, and IV subjects.
