Functional outcomes of motor vehicle crash thoracic injuries in pediatric and adult occupants
- Samantha L. Schoell, A. Weaver, M. Zonfrillo
- MedicineTraffic Injury Prevention
- 2 September 2016
Older adults had significantly greater overall disability than each of the other age groups for thoracic injuries in motor vehicle crashes and compare the functional outcomes between the pediatric and adult populations.
Functional outcomes of motor vehicle crash head injuries in pediatric and adult occupants
- Samantha L. Schoell, A. Weaver, M. Zonfrillo
- MedicineTraffic Injury Prevention
- 12 September 2016
At-risk populations such as pediatric and older adult patients possessed higher DRMAIS values for different head injuries, and understanding of age-related differences in injury outcomes when compared to adults could inform future age-specific modifications to the AIS.
Kinematics and shoulder belt engagement of children on belt-positioning boosters during evasive steering maneuvers
- G. Baker, I. Stockman, Maria Wimmerstedt
- MedicineTraffic Injury Prevention
- 28 February 2018
Children moved laterally inboard, and SB-to-body interaction was influenced by booster and stature, which influenced how children engaged with the seat belt during steering.
Kinematics and Shoulder Belt Engagement of Children on Belt-Positioning Boosters during Emergency Braking Events
- G. Baker, I. Stockman, Maria Wimmerstedt
- Engineering
- 2017
Emergency braking can influence children’s posture and seatbelt interaction. To better protect children in crashes preceded by emergency braking, this study a ims to quantify kinematics and seatbelt…
Evaluation of interventions to make top tether hardware more visible during child restraint system (CRS) installations
- J. Mansfield, Yadetsie Zaragoza-Rivera, G. Baker, J. Bolte
- PsychologyTraffic Injury Prevention
- 13 June 2019
Tether outcomes were not correlated with previous CRS experience, use of instruction manual(s), age, or sex, and conditions including tether color, tether labeling, storage location, and vehicle labeling did not significantly affect tether attachment rates.
Evaluation of static belt fit and belt torso contact for children on belt-positioning booster seats
- G. Baker, J. Mansfield, Randee L Hunter, J. Bolte
- GeologyTraffic Injury Prevention
- 16 September 2021
B belt fit and belt gap outcomes were not strongly correlated with conventional belt fit metrics, indicating that evaluation of belt gap may provide additional insight when attempting to discriminate between BPBs which provide good vs. poor seatbelt engagement during vehicle maneuvers and crashes.
Evaluation of LATCH vs. non-LATCH installations for boosters in frontal impacts
- J. Mansfield, G. Baker, R. Ramachandra, J. Bolte
- EngineeringTraffic Injury Prevention
- 11 August 2021
Differences in kinematics and injury metrics were small between boosters installed using LATCH vs. non-LATCH.

Comparison of upper neck loads of the large omni-directional child ATD to pediatric volunteers in low-speed sled tests
- G. Baker, J. Stammen, B. Suntay, K. Arbogast, T. Seacrist
- Medicine
- 2015
Compared to previously collected child volunteer data in low-speed frontal sled tests, a shift in force distribution from shear to axial is displayed, likely due to greater head rotation displayed by the LODC than the HII 10 or Q10 ATDs.
