First Report of the Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne ethiopica on Tomato and Cucumber in Turkey.
This is the first report of M. ethiopica in Turkey and the third finding of this species in Europe and this species may pose a threat for vegetable production in Turkey since it has a wide host range infesting numerous higher plants including monocotyledons, dicotylingons, herbaceous, and woody plants.
Recognition of species belonging to Meloidogyne ethiopica group and development of a diagnostic method for its detection
The results show that species of Meloidogyne ethiopica group share high similarity at morphological and genetic level and showed that the emergence of a virulent M. luci population does not correlate with the loss of map-1 genes as it was previously indicated for M. incognita.

Commercial parsley plants in Safranbolu were found with symptoms of decline, stunting, yellowing and many galls in the roots, symptoms typical of infestation by root knot nematodes, confirming that M. arenaria is infecting parsley in Turkey.
