A statistic is found to combinatorially generate the cycle-counting q-hit numbers, defined algebraically by Haglund (Adv. in Appl. Math. 17:408-459, 1996). We then define the notion of a cycle-Mahonian pair of statistics (generalizing that of a Mahonian statistic), and show that our newly discovered statistic is part of such a pair. Finally, we note a(More)

We have used the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring to study the inclusive production of charmonium mesons in a sample of 2.15 million BB events. We nd inclusive branching fractions of (1.130.040.06)% for B!J==X, (0.340.040.03)% for B! 0 X, and (0.400.060.04)% for B! c1 X. We also nd some evidence for the inclusive production of c2. An(More)
. The process e+e+ e+e-y(y), where one electron scatters at a small angle, is studied with data from the Mark11 detector at the PEP storage ring. The data are in excellent agreement with a Monte Carlo calculation and include a large contribution from order (u4. The ratio of measured to calculated cross sections is, R = 0.993 f 0.017 f 0.015, where the first(More)
We evaluate fπ/mρ, fK/mρ, 1/fρ, and mφ/(fφmρ), extrapolated to physical quark mass, zero lattice spacing and infinite volume, for lattice QCD with Wilson quarks in the valence (quenched) approximation. The predicted ratios differ from experiment by amounts ranging from 12% to 17% equivalent to between 0.9 and 2.8 times the corresponding statistical(More)
We prove symmetry, and in some cases symmetry and unimodality, of polynomials related to the q, x, y-hit numbers introduced by Haglund. These results generalize theorems proven by Haglund for the q-hit numbers. We also apply one of these results to obtain a corollary concerning a generalization of the Eulerian numbers. Résumé. We evaluate fπ/mρ, fK/mρ, 1/fρ, and mφ/(fφmρ), extrapolated to physical quark mass, zero lattice spacing and infinite volume, for lattice QCD with Wilson quarks in the valence (quenched) approximation. The predicted mφ/(fφmρ) differs from experiment by less than its statistical uncertainty of approximately 15%. The other three constants are 10% to 20% below(More)
The cross section for the production of a+~or K+Kpairs in 77 interactions is measured for rn.. between 1.7 and 3.5 GeV/c2 and for two intervals of 77 center of mass scattering angle. Results are compared with predictions of a QCD model. Submitted to Physical Review Letters *This work was supported in part by the Department of Energy under contracts(More)
